***'s men did good enough work. We spent $10K on a new backyard fence and $5K on a staircase down from our upper deck in January 2022. We thought everything was fine. Two years later, we decided to sell our house. The neighbor to the north expressed to us that one section of the fence intruded upon her property. A rock wall marked the property line, and instead of placing the fence on our side, the two men doing the job had placed it on the neighbor's side unbeknownst to us. Her concern was that new owners would think they owned part of her property. Our neighbor apologized for not telling us directly at the time, but she said, "I told them they built that section on the wrong side of the property line. Their response was something like We had to because of the rock wall. I also came out to tell them to stop using our hose and water to mix their concrete. In May of 2024 I contacted *** and explained the situation. He said, "I just got off the phone with my employee ****, and he was the one there. He said there was never any concern with any neighbors. No one ever came out to chat with them. And he was there all three days. And the only solution to anything like this is to disassemble the fence and build it again wherever you guys decide on. And then determine the cost of it."I was present for the work, and there were two men there. It does not surprise me that workers would not wish to tell their boss something he might not wish to hear. What does surprise me is that, upon learning that his men violated a property line, he would rather charge me for the remedy than accept responsibility. I imagine that a reputable contractor would make sure his men don't cause such problems and would care enough to remedy his own mistake at his own cost.According to the BBB, "We last verified the license was inactive on 02-29-2024," which means he is also willing to charge me for his mistake while not even able to operate legally. What a guy.
