I took my 2008 Dodge Sprinter to this shop. I had an oil leak, exhaust fumes coming into the cab of the van, turbo charger malfunctioning, and a rattle in the front end. They diagnosed the oil leak as coming from the front crank shaft seal, the oil drain plug, and the oil filter housing. They told me the exhaust fumes were actually coming from the oil leak and they said that power washing the oil off fixed the problem. They told me the turbo charger was fine but needed a new intake tube and seal. They diagnosed the rattle as being a faulty rack and pinion. I authorized the repairs and after 3 weeks I got my van back. I immediately noticed the front end was still rattling the same as before. There was still a significant oil leak, the cab was still filling with fumes and there was a coolant leak. They also lost the screws for my floorboard and put bolts from the engine compartment in my bumper. My ** also wasn't working. I took the van back in a 2nd time. They said that there was oil seepage coming from the valve covers. They said it was nothing major. They said they secured an old fuel/water separator and metal lines and that the front end rattle was now fixed. They said the exhaust fumes were actually a fuel leak and it would cost extra to diagnose. They did fix the ** and coolant leak. Their solution for the missing bolts and screws was to spray paint some cheap zinc hardware black. On my drive home I immediately noticed the same front end rattle. Replacing the rack and pinion did nothing to help. The turbo actually shut off while driving home and now shuts off every 10 min or so. There is a significant oil leak. There is still an exhaust leak. They installed my bumper incorrectly and damaged the wiring for my auxiliary lights. I also noticed the *** filler cap was missing which is concerning since they power washed to engine. Ill have to drain and replace the ***. Basically nothing was fixed and I got my van back in worse condition than when I dropped it off.

We feel that we treated ****************** fairly on both Parts and price.  We spent many more hours of labor in Diagnosis & repair than you were actually charged to be fair.
We were up front about what we were unable to find or fix in regards to the rattle and the exhaust smell.
Our techs did not experience these issues, after we made adjustments to the fuel filter and lines and replacement of Rack And Pinion.

The Turbo was not an issue at all when we had vehicle and test drove it. .  So if it is now It is not anything we would have done as we didnt work on turbo at all we only tested how it was functioning.  And it tested fine

The transmission cap was not even touched during either times at shop as we did not do anything pertaining to the transmission or ATF. So I am perplexed as to how that happened. With the bumper I am again perplexed as the bumper was on and secured properly to our knowledge.
I am unaware until now about Aux wire issue, however it seems buy your own admission we fixed them.

We had you bring back to remedy any concerns you had at No Charge. We did our best to replace any hardware the was not in there and yes for aesthetics we painted to match .You were informed at that time that there was still an oil leak at the Valve covers and that it was significant. We were unable to see all oil leaks at this first visit as there were quite a few.   We were up front with you that we were unable to hear or feel your rattle concern or smell the exhaust.  We could only smell and see that there was some sort of fuel leak that would take more extensive diagnosis and tear down to determine. AC was a simple connection that we took care of and check all your system to insure proper operation

However we stand by what we did fix and repaired . We feel that all the work we did do was needed and valid and was charged fairly for both parts and labor.  The free items were not intended to be passed along a sugar coating.  There were to be transparent that we did indeed fix things to make it right .  So we decline that we should refund any money.

I am rejecting this response because: The front end rattle is so noisy and apparent I cannot believe that you or your techs couldn't hear it. I also explained to you that you can feel it if you put your foot over where the front strut mount is on the drivers side. Replacing the rack and pinion and adjusting the fuel filter lines did nothing to change or fix the sound in any way.

I don't know how the transmission cap came off either but it shouldn't have been power washed with the cap off regardless of how it was removed. There was a 1" gap between the bumper and the sheet metal of the van and the clips that hold the bumper and sheet metal together were not fastened. I told you about the Aux wire issue in an email and no I never said you fixed any of these issues. I ordered a new trans cap and took the bumper off to fix it and thats when I discovered the damaged Aux Light wires that were ripped out of the connectors. I also repaired those. The bumper itself appears to have been smashed or pinched because it will not install now without leaving a large gap between the bumper and sheet metal.

Painting cheap zinc bolts and screws and installing them is not the same as replacing with original hardware that you lost. The black paint has already started to wear off and the zinc is wearing through.

You told me that there was minor oil seepage coming from the valve covers. You did not say there was a significant oil leak. I asked you to elaborate on what you mean by "Seepage" and you said it was a very slow leak. Not significant.

My biggest issues here are that the front end rattle, and what seems to me to be overall lack of care and concern for my vehicle. Like I said there were all kinds of missing bolts and screws and the ones that were used were either not oem or where bolts from the wrong location like the engine compartment bolts used in my bumper. There were the other issues like the coolant leak, oil leak, and AC not working, trans cap missing, tire rubbing on the wheel well, and twisted tie rod that gave me very little confidence in the work you did. You fixed some of those things but now your saying something that just isn't true about the oil leak. You never said it was significant, you said the opposite. I do not believe that the rack and pinion needed to be replaced as the rattle is still there. Anyone who has ridden in the van with me can hear it.  I feel that the diagnosis was not performed well and lead to replacing parts that were not necessary. I also feel like the oil leaks should have been found the first time when it was already taken apart. Thats what I paid you for.  Like I said I still have all of the issues that I had when I brought the van in.

      Sincerely,

      *************************

4 months ago i took my ************************************************************** it had a crack in the lower engine block, 4 months have pasted and the new engine that they supplied blew a head gasket. I went to them about potentially a warranty for their work on the car, they told me that no only the engine that they got from their supplier had a warranty of 90 days. I told them that they dod the work on the car though, that they replaced everything and made sure that it would be in working condition. I asked for them to take responsibility for the work that they did and they told me no. That the only thing warrantied was the engine and that i should expect things like this with how old of a car it is, that old cars can break down easily. Which doesnt make sense since they were the ones who got the motor and told me that it was supposedly a refurbished motor, so then why did it blow a head gasket 4 months later? They told me that i supplied some parts to the repair as well, but i wasnt the one who put everything together. And apparently from pressure testing it showed that the radiator blew the head gasket of the motor, the radiator that they decided not to replace. But everything else was replaced? I spent $2,520 on a new engine and labor, they told me that they can replace the head gaskets for $1,500 but that doesnt include labor. No thank you. 2-3 days later i get told by my fianc that they banned us from setting foot on their property?

I have already provided a response to ******************** Review however it doesn't see to be on the site.  I will attached a copy.  along with her estimates and invoice from the work

We provided 4 options to ******************** back in March 2023. for engine failure in a **** Mustang that she purchased with many issues.  We did try to sway her to not put money into the vehicle as we felt it wasn't worth it. But she wanted to proceed.  She choose to go with the USED engine replacement.  NOT NEW, NOT REFURBISHED.  USED clearly stated on her estimate and Invoice along with the 90 warranty disclosure. I also explained than we do not use customer provided parts and that if we used them they would not be warrantied  (also noted on the estimate and invoice)  This was all explained to ******************** in detail prior to any work being done .  I also have an email trail for all estimates sent to her.  All Stating the warranty and what she was purchasing.   She was sold a very low mileage (46K) USED engine with nothing wrong with it.  We installed it and tested engine .  It was in very good running condition when it left our shop. There was nothing wrong with the radiator at the time of the installation so no reason to replace.  If that was the reason for failure that would not be on us nor can I confirm because the vehicle was not brought to us to diagnose what really happened.  So if indeed this pressure test from another shop is correct.  Again I say this is not on us and we were not contracted to do anything with the radiator and all was running fine for 4 months.   So if she ran her car out of water than that is neglect on her part.

******************** came to our shop on Monday Aug 13 to say that her vehicle has blown a head gasket and wanted to know what we can do for her. First thing I asked is where is the vehicle at now.  She indicated it was at our competitor down the street.  I asked why she had not had it towed it to our shop,  she did not have an answer really.  I explained that I would actually have to have the car to diagnosis the vehicle ourselves to confirm what the issue is.  I explained that if the engine did fail I do believe that the warranty has lapsed. However, I would check for her and get back to her with what her options would be. I called the wrecking yard that we purchased the USED engine from and they actually gave a 101 day warranty , but it had been 156 so it was out of warranty by 55 days. I also looked from another used engine for her.  NONE where to be find which was problem when I found the first one by luck and lots of searching.

I called ******************** the very next day about what I had found out and what her options would be.  I explained that unfortunately the warranty had lapsed and I was unable to locate another USED engine for her. So if the engine had indeed failed, which we cannot confirm as we never saw the car after it "blew head gasket" She took it somewhere else and never gave us the opportunity to diagnose the problem.  So I cannot confirm that is the issue. If that is what truly happen the only option that I could offer is to do the top end of the engine rebuild, which is a head job.  This entailed removing heads grinding valves & seats, Pressure test and resurfacing heads, replace gasket and change oil.  I verbally estimated her  $1548.00, which was considerably lower than when I quoted before because of the situation.  However I explained to her this time as I did before we cannot warranty a head job as we cannot guarantee that once we re pressurize top of engine that the bottom will not blow out or fail. (please see previous quote with disclosure)  She opted not do the work and said she was just going basically cut her losses with this car as she had put too much money into it already with issues and problems. I told her I was sorry that there wasn't much we could at this point.

In closing if the radiator was the reason for failure that would not be on us nor can I confirm because the vehicle was not brought to us to diagnose what really happen.  So if this pressure test from another shop is correct.  Again I say this is not on us and we were not contracted to do anything with the radiator and all was running fine for 4  months.   So if she ran her car out of water than that is neglect on her part.  Therefore i would not agree to a refund .

      Respectfully

      ****** & *********************************

      Better Business Bureau:

My anxiety of this situation is too much and the only reason i was told to go through BBB was because everyone told me that what happened, even the other shop was not in my fault. I just want this done and over with. I am not satisfied but i will agree to close this.
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

      Sincerely,
