March 2022 I had to replace my furnace. My furnace is only used for heat. Curtis came out and replaced my furnace which was very old and needed replacing. During the work they told me I needed a new oil tank and my chimney lined. I was not in any position to shop around and agreed with the repairs in which I had to finance due to not having 22000 dollars laying around as a single mother. The total amount financed was 22502 which when it’s finally paid off with interest will cost 35668. In the end it will cost more than I financed on my car the year prior. During this time they set me up with the “gold plan” still to this day I am unsure what that did for me. Because my oil is only for heat the furnace was only used a short period due to the replacement being at the very end of march. I make sure to have oil at the end of the season so it carries over to the next year so in 2023 I am able to just turn the furnace on and have heat. On January 13th of 2023 I had Curtis come out for the regular maintenance in which I don’t believe I had to pay for anything assuming because of the Gold plan. On January 10th 2024 in the morning my furnace stopped running. Curtis came out to get it up and running turns out the flame went out so it needed to be restarted I’m assuming. The charge was 89 to have them come out. The service man was able to get it running and told me the transformer was week and needed to be replaced however said it was under warranty. However when it came to payment I was told it would cost over 600 but if I purchase a service plan it would be 315 on top of the 89 for them coming out and a 4 percent card fee for paying with a card. 420 sounded better than the 600 so I agreed and had to pay two cards because I didn’t have the money in my account and had to do half on a credit card. I obviously was upset due to the furnace being new. I called to see what the specific repair was but the GM was no help. I was not looking for a refund. Now I want my 89 back.

This company was sued by then Attorney General *********************** in Lehigh County Civil Court in June 2022. I was a new victim today. Here are the details: On Friday, Aug 25, I called Curtis Total Service of Allentown, PA to get a quote for air conditioning air duct cleaning. I was told they could inspect and clean the entire AC system for $59 and include a quote for the duct cleaning with that. They sent ******* out Monday, Aug 28. He inspected the exterior AC unit and went up to the attic to inspect the AC component there. I cannot climb the pull-down ladder to the attic seeing as I am 65 and overweight. He came down and showed me a video on his phone of a piece of my system, purportedly, that was covered with either mold or mildew or both.. He told me that he had a hospital grade UV filter on the truck that he could install right then.. He then got me to agree to a service contract of $139 per year to reduce the cost of the UV light by 10 percent. The total cost I wrote a check for after that and some other adjustments that I did not understand was $1,475. The most expensive UV light for home AC systems on ****** is $196. He spent 1 hour and 40 minutes at my house. So, the fair value of products and labor was definitely less than $450. I was priced gouged for an additional $1,025. This is consistent with the practices targeting elderly and single individuals documented in (then) Attorney ******* *******'s June 2022 court case against this business.
