I have been insulted, belittled, maliciously lied to, gaslighted and I feel taken advantage of by this organization. When the appointment for the consultation was made, I made it clear that I am only available during the evening hours. At the sale my schedule was reiterated, and I was told it would be worked with. It says on my contract best time to contact ...EVENINGS.However, I am now told that they only work ******'s hours, (weekdays, during the day). I only work 5 months a year and it would cause a financial hardship to take one day off. I offered to get the install after I get off in the evening or the weekend but was told that will not work because it is dark. I suggested that using lighting will eliminate the darkness, but that was not even addressed by the owner; simply ignored. What the owner has done is insulted my profession, lied to me about the standing of his company, gaslighted me because I won't take time off from work to accommodate his contractors (who happen to be family and longtime friends, according to the owner) and squelched my confidence that the work will be done fairly or adequately. I have asked 4 times for a refund of my deposit since he cannot uphold the contract. I was insulted and belittled each time. Even threatened with a Mechanics Lean on my home. Which, according to his contract, he cannot do at this junction as I have not defaulted. I was insulted by the contractor, a manager and the owner. They have even sent me an audio recording of them mocking and ridiculing me; laughing as if I'm a joke. After realizing that it was sent, the next morning they offer to do the job when it convenient for me. No Thank You!!! I will absolutely never trust this organization!I do not want to do business with this organization a need my money back so I can get an entry door installed and get my family out of the security nightmare we have been in since the break in.Business Response

Dear *************,
We've had several conversations and exchanges via text. It seems there may have been a misunderstanding from the beginning, leading to some tension. *** discussed the installation of your door with you, and you mentioned being an accountant with late work hours due to tax season. You requested an installation date after 4 pm on a Saturday or Sunday in ************. *** responded, acknowledging your situation. He offered two installers extra money, but both declined as this will be a 2-day job with only working those late hours. However, there seemed to be a miscommunication, as you interpreted our response differently. Despite our efforts to accommodate by offering additional payment to our installers for weekend installation, we couldn't fulfill your request. This led to further discussions about canceling the order and refunding your deposit.
We later proposed installing the door after April 15th, but you expressed a desire to cancel. I'm uncertain if this is a financial or timing issue, but I've offered assistance with both. You mentioned being a single mom with young children, which was unrelated to our initial discussion about the door installation.
Had we known about the April installation requirement at the time of sale, we could have addressed it differently. Unfortunately, we've already ordered and paid for the custom-made door, which is now in our warehouse.
Respectfully, I ask that you provide a date for installation, and I'll do my best to accommodate. Cancelling the custom order poses financial challenges, but I'm committed to finding an amicable solution based around an installation *************.
Sincerely,

Company quoted a price for installation of windows and that price included my active participation in marketing for the company, which began at the signing of the contract. Approximately 3 weeks after I signed the contract, gave the deposit and participated in those marketing activities, I was told the project cost would be higher than quoted. I was unwilling to pay the additional amount and requested a return of my deposit as well as some form of additional compensation for the activities I had participated in. The owner accused me of trying to extort him for money, while I was trying explain to him that he had received value from these marketing activities, even if not quantifiable. Though I was informed that they would not be able to do this work for the quoted price on 7/20, I have still not received my deposit returned. Today I called the office and was told it might get mailed tomorrow and that accounting only writes checks a couple of times per month. Seems unacceptable that a company can hold a deposit for over a month (deposit paid on 6/30) extract value from a customer and then cancel a contract with no value given to the customer. This does not seem to represent "Better Business".Customer Answer

Company did not proactively call me after this complaint. I had to call them and the did eventually process the return of the deposit I had paid for the job. However they refused to compensate me in any way for the marketing activities I had participated in prior to them cancelling the contract. When I spoke to the owner, he accused me of trying to steal $200 from him. I told him that $200 (a number he first mentioned) seemed to be a reasonable compensation for the marketing activities I participated in.

Signed contract 4/25/23 with GES. Contract states delivery between 6/11/23-8/11/23. Customer service has never updated me on order. I called twice and promised delivery date never honored. I requested a refund if unable to complete the order by 8/11/23. Nasty customer rep refused yet cannot guarantee any delivery date. Very poor customer service. Hello *******************,
Let me thank you for your business. Everyone here at GEs appreciates you choosing us to install your windows. I do apologize for the delay. We get notices from our manufacturers about production delays from time to time that pushes back our installation dates.
I understand your windows are installed and at least the product and installation process went well, and you are very happy. We go one step further for our customers. GES employees a full time CUSTOMER FULLFILLMENT specialist. This person visits every customer AFTER the sale, after the install and after you have paid us. We feel this gives the customer time to inspect the workmanship. Most people feel they never hear from the company again after paying.
We are set to visit you in the next week or so. At that time, we will bring you a gift basket, walk the entire job with you and make note of any issues and then of course address them. We back your decision to choose GES and will be here any time for any issue you have.
I am very sorry for the delay with your installation. I hope you know this was never intentional. It upsets us more than it does our customers. Your opinion of us matters.
Sincerely,

In May/June of last year (2022) we moved into a home we had just purchased in Hawley. There was a full inspection of the home, including the attic, with photos. On July 5th, 2022, GES came and replaced some plywood on the roof and installed a new roof, with a ridge vent, as well as fascia, soffit, and drip edge. GES were also contracted to replace nine windows, a door, and the vinyl siding. Now, we have mold throughout the attic! There is moisture clearly getting into the attic to support this mold growth, and the attic floor is fully insulated so the moisture is not entering from there. I have children in this home, one of whom is asthmatic, and both of whom have been sick since December. I need this issue addressed immediately, but GES didn't even reply; FOUR calls to the company were unanswered. After we posted a negative review on ****, they called to say they would "schedule an appointment to look at it." That was last week, and there's been no further contact.Business Response

Hello,
I apologize as I never saw a complaint in the mail or I would have addressed it immediately.
This came to be because of a boyfriend or someone who decided to help **** - **********************. We received a random bad review from a name
we had no record of in our system. This gentleman attacked us, made threats and accusations of which he had no knowledge.
In the end, we installed windows, roofing and siding on this home. The chimney is is need of repair. This is where the attic is leaking, along the chimney. Our man was there
to evaluate the issue and at that time *************************** told him she had mold prior to us doing any work in the home. Her friend tried to say we caused it and that she has
children and this could affect their health. Yet the mold existed, and nothing has been prior to us doing the work.
The conclusion is that we did not cause the mold and attached is a release offering at no cost for GES to spray the attic with a mold killing agent. This is a courtesy because she is
a customer of GES. My installation manager is setting a time for us to complete this service.
I explained we are not a mold remediation company, and she really should contact a professional.
************************** signed the release but her friend or boyfriend will not saying he could pursue this issue further in the future. He is on the contract but not on the loan documents.
I did the best I could to resolve this issue. I do recommend the chimney be serviced and to contact a mold professional.
Sincerely

Attached are the email between the alleged "boyfriend," *********************, and the owner of GES. **************** signed the contract for the work and so has every right to pursue this issue. It is important to note that ****************** assured me that if I signed the release, he would have his people perform the mold remediation. Now that I have signed it, he is doing nothing, just as GES has from the beginning. There is ZERO doubt that this mold is a direct result of GES employees removing a chimney cap/patch (which had been installed years before) and replacing it with simple flashing that allows water to enter the attic. Then their employees placed new soffit material over the existing material, thereby capping the soffit vent holes and trapping the moisture in the attic. PLEASE just review the email exchange below, and you will get a clearer picture of who GES really is.

My intentions were to not respond to your email. But now 07/07/2023 has come and gone and you’ve done nothing for *** ***********’s home, so before I take further action I want you to know why. Note too that I have every right to do so as I am a signer of the contract that precipitated your work, no matter how often you want to mention who “signed the loan.” First, you can attempt to fabricate all the “*** *********** said…” stories that you want. The reality is that your team never visited or inspected the attic prior to starting work, so now you have no choice but to manufacture stories. However, GES was the last of NINE different contractors who visited the home and gave work estimates, and there was no mold observed by any of them. In fact, there has been no mold (prior to GES) from the time this home was purchased. A broken water tank manifold did leave a mildew stain on the basement wall, and there was moisture present during the inspection. This is the only thing *** *********** could have referenced, which you’re trying to twist into “mold.” Nice try. The manifold was replaced (along with the water tank) prior to move-in, and has been dry since. The entire basement was subsequently gutted and remodeled, with no hint of moisture or mold. Again, plenty of professional contractors can attest to this. The inspection report also noted water stains from previous leaks in the attic, but these had been corrected years before when the chimney was flashed and patched (the patch your crew removed). As far as the “you covered the soffit vents with insulation” excuse, you are again trying to twist what *** *********** said into something else. During an energy audit by a utility company (the audit which discovered the mold, by the way), it was suggested that the attic walls be insulated once the mold was dealt with. But prior to your company, nobody has done any work in that attic (or that would effect that attic) for years, without mold. The mold is undeniably subsequent to GES. Finally, it’s curious that you’d even reference us hiring of one of YOUR subcontractors to repair a wall. The wall is part of an extension on the house, and totally unconnected to the attic. But your subcontractor replaced three wall studs and a half sheet of plywood for $5,000, while GES offered to give *** *********** a “deal” and do it for $23,000! Which is exactly who you are: unprofessional and immoral, and content to make money praying on disabled, widowed grandmothers such as *** ***********.

I have received your response. The offer I presented is the only offer I will make.
******************* told our ***** **** and ***, she had mold before this project ever started. Our products did not increase the mold that already existed. This was a pre-existing
condition.
Our representative visited the home and knew the mold is from a chimney that is falling down and needs repair. We cannot flash or caulk to make this weather tight
and ******************* was informed of this.
You should be doing something if you have children in the home WELL before we started this work because you had a pre-existing mold problem.
Condensation on the insulation would never cause a mold issue. I could send our rep back out with a mositure meter to prove ther is no condensation or water behind the
siding. That products acts as a vapor barrier and does not promote mold/moisture.
The seams do not need to be taped....
If you feel a lawyer and some experts can support your claim, please do so. But trying to push the concern of children in the home on GES with a pre-existing
condition admited twice to my people is shameful.
As far doing nothing for a month, I am not even sure why I am respsonding to you.
You wrote a bad review and YOU are not on the loan . So in the future, being you are threatening GES legally, pls do not repsond or send futher communication to us as we will not respond.
We will only respsond to ********************
We refuse to take accountabilty for a pre-existing mold condition.
When you wrote your review, NO ONE knew who you were. In addition I spoke to *******************
and SHE TOLD me on speaker phone with my employees here that she herself never called nor emailed nor texted any issues at her home. We had no record of her issues till YOU decied to post a review.
Beyond the mere presence of moisture is the fact that ridge vent/soffit vent system does not appear to be removing it. That mold growth (which requires moisture to survive) was discovered after multiple weeks without precipitation. So the moisture is not leaving the attic once it is in there. This calls into question whether or not the ridge vent was installed correctly by the GES roofing crew, or whether the GES siding crew (that installed the soffit) removed the old soffit and installed the new correctly or just “capped” over the old soffit with new material instead and possibly covered some vent holes; THIS WAS INSPECTED BY OUR MAN AND THE VENT IS INSTALLED PROPERLY. WE AR NOT MOLD EXPERTS. YOU HAVE PRE-EXISTING MOLD. NOTHING IN YOUR CONTRACT OR ANY CONVERSATION OCCURED BETWEEN MISS BUCKMAN AND US ABOUT MOLD OR VENTS NEEDED TO REMOVE MOLD.
The House Wrap used during the siding portion of the project, ESP Low-E Housewrap, lay on the ground outside for days prior to installation, and moisture (condensation) was visible inside the plastic casing. This is specifically cautioned against by the product manufacturer. Moreover, the manufacturer calls for ALL vertical and horizontal seams, as well as all windows and doors, to be taped with Low-E seam tape. But no such tape was used on this house. Instead, the workers just stapled the house wrap to the walls as quickly as possible. This could also be a source moisture in the structure; I HAVE DONE HUNDREDS OF HOMEs IN THIS MANNER. I WILL GLADLY SEND A MAN WITH A MOISTURE METER TO INSPECT THE WALLS FOR MOISTURE. I SAY AGAIN, THE MOLD WAS PRE-EXISTING. IF THE HOUSE IS NOW MORE ENRGY EFFICIENT, LESS AIR TRAVELING THROUGH THE HOUSE, THIS MIGHT BE YOUR CAUSE OF MOLD SPREADING. BUT IT IS NOT THE CAUSE OF THE MOLD.
GES was made aware of this mold issue the first week of June, and has done nothing. Now, a month later, you are insisting waive her legal rights before you do the right thing and address the issue. WE HAD NO CALLS, TEXTS OR EMAILS ABOUT THIS ISSUE TILL YOU POSTED A REVIEW. NONE!! THEN AFTER SPEAKING TO THE CUSOMER WE WERE TOLD THE MOLD WAS PRE-EXISTING.
I will send my mold to spray a courtesy to help, but this is not our issue. The mold was pre-existing and now with language of children, GES should ....we don't even do mold remdiation. I have never dealt with this in all my 33 years. Again, you should have done somehting long before w did this job if you feel the children are at risk.

Concerning the mold remediation work at *** ********** *****, please be advised that while ******** *********** alone signed for the loan (due to issues with my credit at that time), both she and I signed the Green Eco Solutions (GES) contracts for the home at the above address. No release she signs binds me -or my legal rights- in any way;
The assertions by GES that attic mold is due to water seepage near the chimney (See release at 1(B)b) may be correct. However, sealants and flashing were on the chimney to prevent such seepage, and functioned just fine for years. But the original sealant and flashing were removed by GES-contracted workers during the roofing project on 07/05/22, and replaced with GES flashing, without sealant and in a manner different than what had been there;
The House Wrap used during the siding portion of the project, ESP Low-E Housewrap, lay on the ground outside for days prior to installation, and moisture (condensation) was visible inside the plastic casing. This is specifically cautioned against by the product manufacturer. Moreover, the manufacturer calls for ALL vertical and horizontal seams, as well as all windows and doors, to be taped with Low-E seam tape. But no such tape was used on this house. GES was made aware of this mold issue the first week of June, and has done nothing. Now, a month later, you are insisting *** *********** waive her legal rights before you do the right thing and address the issue. GES representatives have also been aware that there are children in the home: a three-year-old boy who has been on antibiotics three times for sinus issues since this roof project, and a five-year-old girl that has been placed on an inhaler due to respiratory issues, again since this roof was installed. These are documented medical conditions and treatments which were perplexing to the doctors, but which may now be explained. Yet rather than a good faith effort to address the problem, GES opts to do nothing for a month, then (knowing the urgency of the issue) promises to address the issue in a couple days IF *** *********** waives her rights. I have advised *** *********** -and now GES- that I will agree to no such waiver, but will refrain from taking legal action against GES if they are willing to make a good faith effort to address the mold on July 07, 2023 as promised.Customer Answer

This calls into question whether or not the ridge vent was installed correctly by the GES roofing crew, or whether the GES siding crew (that installed the soffit) removed the old soffit and installed the new correctly or just “capped” over the old soffit with new material instead and possibly covered some vent holes;
I have advised *** *********** -and now GES- that I will agree to no such waiver, but will refrain from taking legal action against GES if they are willing to make a good faith effort to address the mold on July 07, 2023 as promised.

Hello,
I mentioned this person in part of the answer to the complaint. Who is this person? We speak to
***************************. She told us there was existing mold. WE seem to resolve the issue and then this person.
(a friend or neighbor) jumps in and attacks us in the complaint. My men have been to home and sprayed the attic for mold. There are no mentions of poor workmanship as the windows, roofing and siding look great and have no issues nor leaks.
She seems to be satisfied and said she will have someone look at her chimney. Do I need to respond to her friend?
or neighbor?
I am unclear if she is satisfied and we stand behind our warranty, what is my next step? If she has any issues at all with her products we will be there immediately. I respectfully submit I am trying to do all I can to resolve this. GES did no cause mold in her home. We confirmed this with the customer. If the customer signed a released and allowed us to spray the attic, why do I keep getting attacked by her friend/neighbor. Please let me know what else the BBB would like me to do.
Thank you

First, GES continues to speak of "this person" when referring to my partner, who actually SIGNED the GES contract before I did. But because the loan to finance the work was in my name, GES is using that to ignore my partner's concerns. GES did come and spray for mold, and it apparently killed the mold for now. But GES ALSO removed the flashing repair from around the chimney when they initially did the work (roof), which led to the mold to begin with. Moreover, when they came to deal with the mold, they used a manufactured work order with a logo taken from an Arizona company totally unrelated to GES. So while my initial complaint is ostensibly resolved, I should hope the BBB considers this shady behavior when rating GES moving forward.Customer Answer
