      I was scheduled for all 4 of my wisdom teeth to be removed at Artisian smiles. They told me all 4 had to come out but refused to pull them all at once. They said I can only do 1 side at a time. Knowing my insurance would not cover the sedation unless I get all 4 pulled at once. I called 3 weeks in a row to confirm my insurance would cover everything and let them know how big a deal it is for me to take off work. I have to get someone to run my recovery group and go to court with my clients! So this surgery affected not only my schedule but at keast 6 other people's schedules. They continue to assure me all would be covered. I know they are familiar with my insurance, it's medical assistance. My friend informed me of her experience and warned me which is why I called over and over again only to ve told all was well. The morning before my surgery artisan smiles calls and say I will have to pay 600$ for sedation. I was unable to get this surgery done because they refuse to pull all 4 at one time rather they want to do it in 2 sessions which would cost me over 600$. I called numerous other oral surgerons who said they would pull all 4 wisdom teeth at the same time but do not take my insurance. My insurance company reached out to them which is ******* ********* and they refused to work with them and pull all 4 teeth. They are praying on people in pain, they know what they are doing they are very familiar with ****************** and I know at least 3 other people now who have had this same experience. What I do not agree with is leading people on for 3 weeks only to tell them they were right the day before surgery. They were rude and fraudulent.

      This business emotionally traumatized my mother and I. I went in for a consultation and they x-rayed my teeth. They told me there was no co-pay that day. I scheduled a day to get my wisdom teeth removed. Few days before my appointment, I get a call, stating that I owe $75. I confirmed it with the lady on the phone stating that it was $75 and she agreed. Today on September 28th 2023, I went into the facility to find out that I actually owe $725. And I tried to see if they take payment plans they rudely told me that I have to pay up front and I went back and forth with my insurance in them. My insurance told me to have Artisan Dental call them. The business stated that they could not and would not do that. They took me to talk to the doctor about the billing issue. When I talked to the doctor he was giving me attitude and aggressively raising his voice at my mother and I. Stating that it is not his or his employees job to give us a bill. When we told him about appealing it, he told us that he did not want to fill it out because it would be a waste of his time. He made me feel like we were unimportant because he had too many patients to deal with. When we went back they were also complaining about us saying we should "know better."

      Multiple reps from my insurance company, **** *** ***, have told me that they CONSTANTLY have calls about this provider changing patients when they are 100% covered. Dental code *****, specifically. They are constantly using this code to charge patients when they shouldn't because they know the insurance companies will not pay this code. I worked in billing for insurance and there are multiple codes they could use, but they refuse because they can just get cash from the patient. The insurance companies are well aware of Artisan Smiles, and the surgeon. I have been told the insurance companies are investigating them for their shady billing practices. When I spoke to the lady, *****, in billing, she told me the opposite of what my insurance told me. She told me that the charge was covered for the first surgery but not the second. But on my claim / EOB, it was not covered on the first one. She spoke to me like I was stupid and had no idea what I was talking about. **** *** *** is a common ***************** insurance and the people on it have little to no income. Most services are covered 100%. The surgeon/biller is tacking on charges to the patients. This is not a proper practice.

      Code ***** is the only code we can submit. We run a prior authorization to insurance companies which is when we submit the narrative. We submit a narrative of medical necessity for each code that is being billed for each clients surgical procedure.   If insurance denies the codes we always tell the PT that they should submit an appeal. When they submit an appeal 90% of the time these insurances cover the code. We can not bill a different code if it is not for the actual service being rendered. 

      When PT called and spoke to our billing manager she was yelling and using a demining tone as we were only trying to assist her with the information on the denial we received from the insurance company. 

      We can provide all documentation and medical necessity narratives if needed.
