On April 26, 2023 my car was towed from a non posted zone directly beside retailer that I was inside. When I returned to may car it had been towed. When I called the towing company to see if they had my car (15 minutes after tow) they said they had it and I could only get my vehicle back for $240 CASH ONLY. When I went to pick up my car (hour after tow) I had no choice but to pay the $240 cash due to me being stuck in a downpour in a town 2 hours from home (which they knew). When I got to impound and paid the $240 the employee joked about how he looks for people running into a store and quickly toss them so he can laugh as they chase after the tow truck. Everything about the situation seemed illegal and unethical. Again, the place I parked was not posted no parking/tow zone and was directly beside retailer that I entered where it would be common belief that that was the parking lot. Thanks!

This service was not provided to the owner of the vehilce, but to the owner of the property.

With That said, I'm sorry to hear about  frustrating experience with the towing company. It can be quite disheartening when you feel like you've been taken advantage of, especially when you're not familiar with the area. In Pennsylvania, private property owners have the right to enforce parking regulations on their property.

Retrieval of Towed Vehicle: Vehicle owners have the right to retrieve their towed vehicle after paying the necessary fees. The fees should be in accordance with state and local regulations.  Duw to the fact that this is a private porperty a refund will not be issued.   Recommendation would be to park in spots provided by the vendor customer is visiting.

[To assist us in bringing this matter to a close, you must give us a reason why you are rejecting the response. If no reason is received your complaint will be closed as Answered]

     Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because:

1Towing and towing facilities standards act requires payment may be made by major credit card. I was told payment must be received in cash or I would be unable to get my vehicle back. This made the already ridiculous $240 charge for a tow down the street even more expensive as i had to **** around to get money before ****ing to tow company. Please see attached.

    2. Please read the attached laws. Where my car was parked it was not posted anywhere in sight that the spot for for a private facility. I parked beside a ********* where it would be reasonable to assume the spot was for the *********.

3.$240 is not a fair and reasonable price for an involuntary tow. Again, please see attached.

    4. I will be following up with attorney generals office as well for a complaint so an investigation can take place.

    Regards,
