I had my aluminum boat welded by facchiano iron works in May 2024 for $2500. When I picked up the boat, *** ******** said if I have any issues, bring the boat back and he would repair it again. The weld held all summer through fall and the boat was put away in December 2024, dry and covered. I put the boat in the water in April 2025 and immediately the boat started leaking heavily. Put the boat back on the trailer and found that the weld that *** did had cracked down the middle of the weld. I contacted *** by phone and left countless messages. I finally got a hold of *** and he said the boat must've had water in it and froze and that caused the crack. He asked that I call back in 3 weeks which was the 1st week of May 2025 to schedule the repair. I called again and left multiple messages with no response. I have contacted *** through email on his website and his response is as follows: Hi *****, I've been on site running a demolition and installation on 16 hour days. I won't be back in the shop until the end of May, and I don't have the capacity to repair your boat again when I'm back. I've been booked through most of summer since the start of the year. If you're aiming to get that boat back on the water for this season, I'd take it to a ****** with dry docking capabilities. They'll be able to cut and form a patch for you. If you'd like me to weld it shut when my schedule opens up, let me know and I'll get you on the books for tail end of August/early Sept. Sincerely, ***. I have had multiple people look at the weld and all come to the same conclusion, that this is a weld shrinkage issue which is common when welding aluminum. I want *** to honor his word and repair the weld which is what I paid for originally, a weld that holds! I want *** to have this fixed in a timely Manor or if I have to have another shop fix his work, *** should reimburse the cost of his failed repair.

We were sorry to hear that the hull of the boat cracked during winter storage.

This shop doesn't offer lifetime warranties, especially for crack repairs for equipment that operate in marine environments, and our offer to fix any issues extended to the first time the boat was put into water. If the crack repair had leaked then, we would have happily made it right. It didn't. A once satisfied customer is now angry that a band-aid didn't last a lifetime. I urged the owner to cut the hull and patch it properly, but he just wanted it welded so he could get back on the water.

I don't know if this boat was run aground again during the year it was in operation. It had significant crash damage in multiple locations when it was brought to me originally. I take no responsibility for what happened to the customers boat after a full season of safe operation.
