I had my transmission replaced at an AAMCO location in Vermont, where my transmission started having issues during my travels. I paid $5,168.37 for a new transmission, manifold, and labor on 10/20/23 to the AAMCO in Burlington, VT which included a 1 year warranty. I picked up the car and drove it back to Philadelphia on 10/21/23 and noticed the shifter wasn’t working correctly. I took it back to a local AAMCO (Broomall PA of which I’m filing this complaint) to fix the problem with the shifter. This was not something I had an issue with prior to having the transmission replaced. I explained the situation to the AAMCO in Broomall, PA. I dropped off the car on 10/27/23 and was told I would receive a call back for an update that day. I called 10/27, 10/30, and 10/31 for updates and was promised call backs those same days with updates that didn’t come. When I asked to speak with the owner/manager on 10/31 after I was told there were no updates still, the manager then gave the person I was talking to updates while I was still on the phone. The owner/manager would not speak with me on the phone and would have the secretary put me on hold, talk to the secretary, then talk to me to give me this information. The AAMCO in Broomall PA told me that I needed a new shifting cable and quoted me $785 dollars for the cable and labor. I stated that I was under warranty still after they provided me the quote, and then the Broomall PA AAMCO owner/manager told me that they wouldn’t fix the cable. The manger/owner never returned requests for a call to address my concerns from 10/27-10/31. I picked up my car in the evening of 10/31 and now have a car that I don’t feel safe driving, has a warranty that isn’t being honored, and I am needing to find a different AAMCO location to fix my car and honor the warranty. When I picked up my car from the Broomall PA AAMCO, my phone charging cable and adapter were missing from my car as well.

Following this initial complaint, I found another AAMCO that was willing to work on my car. The new AAMCO notified me that I didn't need a new shifting cable and that it was a small adjustment to the shifter which was free of charge to resolve. I am providing this update as I am still concerned about the business practices at the AAMCO location in Broomall, PA who told me that I needed a $785 repair that I didn't need and refused to do the adjustment/work on my car that another AAMCO was able to do. Of note, I did find my phone charging cable and adapter in a different location in my car after picking it up from the AAMCO on 10/31.

    Dear ******* *******,
Sorry I wasn’t in office I had medical emergency
I have read customer’s complaint she has completed her repair another aamco transmission not with us but unfortunately she came to us with different type of complaint we have checked the vehicle and share our diagnostic information with the customer and she declined to move forward and picked up her vehicle we didn’t ever charge her a cent for diagnostic l. I really don’t understand why she has launched the complaint while we haven’t charge her anything.

    Customer Answer

    Date: 12/29/2023

Since filing my initial complaint with this specific AAMCO location in Broomall, PA, I was able to take my car to a different AAMCO location who completed the repair and honored the warranty at no charge. The repair that was completed was not the repair that the AAMCO Broomall, PA location had told me it was. My car has now been repaired, however, I still have concerns with the AAMCO location at Broomall, PA. These concerns included: communication difficulties with the owner (did not return calls, did not call with updates to the car leading to being without a car for a prolonged amount of time), dishonesty in the repair (stating I needed a repair that was not needed), not honoring the warranty which included the business declining to do the repair and asking me to pick up my car when I mentioned it was still under warranty. I was able to read the businesses reply, however, the reply was not an accurate description of this situation. At this point a formal apology and a vow from this specific AAMCO location to be more consistent with other AAMCO locations in franchise and improve their communication with their customers would suffice. I don’t want any other customers to have repairs done that are not needed or be charged dishonest pricing for repairs.

Very poor service, i took my  2005 ***** ******* **** there to get the transmission rebuilt, got it back it sat in front my house as a back truck for my business, while sitting in front of my door i noticed a leak that kept getting bigger, call aamco transmission to see what i needed to do, so they said bring it back up we'll take a look at it, so i did, they look at it said it was fix come get your vehicle, so i did. Put it back in front of my door as a second vehicle just in case my first vehicle went down, so it finally happened my first truck went down and had to use my back up truck with the rebuilt transmission, so i thought ( DROVE IT ONE DAY, I'm Sorry 20 MINUTES FROM MY HOUSE AND IT WOULDN'T GO IN REVERSE) TOOK IT BACK TO THE TRANSMISSION SHOP AROUND AUGUST 23, 2023 TO OCTOBER 16, 2023 and still waiting for my secondary work truck to get fix They never gave me a receipt gentleman by the name of **** was kind enough to finally give me a receipt. That state's 18 months or 18,000 for and exchange transmission not a rebuilt one!!!! Been renting cars, asking people for rides. Losing jobs because i couldn't get to them! Having customer pick me up very unprofessional.

With all due respect thank for giving me an opportunity to preset my side as well
He did repair his vehicle in 2022 with 12 month warrant which was expired and then somehow he had falsely deal with the manager he got new document created falsely with no money paid in order to extend the warranty that normally we dont extend the warranty at all.
We have already filed fraudulent charges against that manager and also I have come forward and I have honored one time transmission fix even it was fake document.
Honestly speaking this gentleman knows he is lying and he claiming this warrant claim falsely but I'm just surprised he even initiate a claim for this matter.

I have reasons to believe mechanic fraud was committed under the management of **** during 01/25/23 (transmission) and 05/05/23 (fuel pump) servicing. When I brought my vehicle in for engine sputtering, ABS malfunction errors, I was advised by **** that I needed a new fuel pump(05/05/23). Once I paid for service ($1400) and retrieved my car, 10 mins into driving all my original symptoms and errors returned (06/15/23.) I return my car back to AAMCO Broomall to which I am told **** is no longer an employee, and he is currently on the run for fraud and for stealing over 40k from the company. The owner Ahmad tells me they will assess my vehicle and fix the problem free of charge. However, they diagnosed my vehicle and am now telling me it will be an additional $3000 to fix it, even though **** never fixed it correctly during the 05/05/23 visit. As of today 08/08/23, I do not have my vehicle. Neither AAMCO Broomall or AAMCO cooperate is retuning my calls or providing updates. I’ve been given several different estimated dates of completion that have not been abided by. I have requested policy information and invoice information from both AAMCO Cooperate and AAMCO Broomall to confirm I was not a victim of fraud, but neither entity has responded to provide proof of part numbers, or proof of honest servicing. I was harassed by the owner Ahmad to remove google review on 07/21/23, and out of fear of retaliation I complied. Now I am seeking a full refund of all services, and for my vehicle to be returned to me as soon as possible. I have documentation, text messages to provide more in depth proof of the above complaint. Last time I heard from Ahmad is 08/01/23 when he said he would call me shortly and never did.

    Dear Sir/ Madam
Thank you for giving us an opportunity to share our side of story as well.
The customer originally came in for transmission fix we fix and release the vehicle and second time she brought her vehicle back with fuel pump issue we had replace the fuel pump and released the vehicle now sue has brought her vehicle for an issue with her ABS MODULE AND TRANSFER CASE.
We have completed the job and informed the customer roughy 2 weeks ago but still waiting for her to pickup her vehicle.
She has came every time with different issue than we had worked previously.

    Customer Answer

    Date: 08/29/2023

    Hello,

The information provided by AAMCO is false. As of 08/29/23 I still do not have my vehicle. I attempted to retrieve it yesterday and have been given a new pick up date of 8/31/23. It was also brought to my attention by the owner ***** and the programmer, that the codes for my ABS MODULE and TRANSFER CASE were detected in January and was never disclosed to me. These codes were also detectable in May, and again were never mentioned to me. This is neglect, and is very unsafe to do to customers. The company has yet to provide the invoices I've requested to prove transmission and fuel pump work were done under good honest mechanic practice, and to confirm all previous work was necessary. I was told to come to the shop and retrieve all invoices and on 08/28/23, none of the invoices with part numbers were provided to me. There is still lack of transparency and accountability on AAMCOs behave for the unreasonable delays, unprofessional behaviors and mechanic neglect.

     Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because: I currently do not have my vehicle. Attempted to pick up my vehicle twice 8/29/23 and 8/30/23 to which both times my vehicle was not ready and work outside of the original agreement was being done on it without my permission or knowledge. Please see image attached of what my vehicle looked like when I came to the franchise location 8/30/23. This establishment is very unprofessional and deceitful. I also observed Alcohol bottles inside of the store.

I brought my '07 **** ******** to Aamco to get a new transmission. The official date of payment was 10/24 for $1,166 and they could not provide me a detailed invoice at that time and there were no contracts. After contacting Aamco Corporate, they still were unable to produce a detailed invoice but rather an incorrect "estimate" sent on 11/4 which I never saw before. Ahmad from Aamco Broomall said over the phone that he would offer a complete remanufacture with a three year warranty for $1,500. I brought it over as soon as I could on 9/26 and he said it would be ready in 3-5 days. 10 days later I received a text on 10/6 asking for my permission to remove the old transmission. I agreed. A week or so later received a call from a new hire, Mark, who told me that the cost of a remanufactured transmission with a 3 year warranty was $4,500. I asked to speak to Ahmad and he was unavailable. I stopped over and Ahmad denied ever saying it would be 1,500. I have no reason to lie but he has every reason to. If it was 4,500 to start, I just wouldn't have brought my car there. At that point, he had my car and I owed him for taking out the bad transmission. I had a access to another remanufactured transmission that was less than his price and he agreed to install it. I was to provide the oil and it was going to cost 1,100 which is very high. Lee installed the transmission. It was not good. Ahmad is never around. Mark the "***** ***** *********" is the manager and after the test drive, he refused to put it back on the lift to have Lee look at it again. They messed up putting the exhaust back on (no donut), the transmission was leaking oil, the shifter was extremely wiggly and did not line up with gears inside. They never used the oil I provided and I have no idea what oil they used. They did not install the transmission properly and I burned out the torque converter on my way home. This was told to me by the next mechanic I went to who fixed my car.

Transaction: 6/10/22 Cost: $5,158.03 Dispute: AAMCO Broomall committed to fixing my transmission, which exhibited a slipping sensation and burning trans fluid smell, via rebuild. After payment and pickup on 6/10, I have had to take the car back for work to fix the same problems on 6/13 and again on 6/21. On 6/17 I filed a "contact me" form, requesting someone from corporate to call me. I requested either a refund, the ability to take my car to a different AAMCO, or have AAMCO pay for a 3rd party shop to fix the car. The corporate rep declined all three. After my latest drop off on 6/21, I was told the mechanic did not fill the transmission properly. Later, I was told that this required them to rebuild the transmission again. I picked up my car for the third time on 7/8, using my spare key because the mechanic accidentally took my primary key home. The car still exhibits a slipping sensation in 4th and 5th gears, still smells of burned fluid, and now the car is out of alignment (likely due to the mechanic having to drop the cradle in the car to access the transmission and subsequently not properly aligning everything upon reassembly). Throughout this process, I have been without my car for approximately 32 days. I was also never offered a rental. The shop still has my primary key despite telling me I would have it back 7/11. I called yesterday about it, was told they'd call me back, and I have yet to receive a return call. I do not trust the mechanics at AAMCO Broomall to fix my car anymore. The franchisee has tried his best to satisfy me but my problem is not with him. He has lost money on this repair due to it being in his shop on three separate occasions. Unfortunately, I must do what is best for me. I paid to have my car fixed. It is not fixed.

     Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because: the car was never repaired. If it were repaired, I wouldn't have had to return the car for the same problem on two separate occasions. Upon picking up the vehicle after the third drop off, the vehicle slips in three gears (more than when I dropped the vehicle off initially), still exudes a burning oil smell, and now the alignment is off. As for the inability to replicate the problem, I explained upon the third drop off on 6/21 that the problem could be replicated by entering sport mode and shifting into second and third gears. Negligence was admitted during the week of 7/4 when I was informed that the tech who attempted to repair the transmission previously did not fill the transmission fully with transmission fluid, resulting in the need to rebuild the transmission a second time. When I picked up my key from AAMCO - Broomall on 7/19, I explained to the franchisee that I had submitted a complaint via the BBB and wanted my money back, for the reasons explained in the initial BBB complaint. This request was denied and we could not come to an agreement. He offered to attempt to repair the car again, suggesting this time that the issue could be an electrical one. However, I failed to see how that would rectify the burning oil smell. Additionally, as I explained to him, I could not trust the shop to repair the car after failure to do so on three separate occasions over the course of 32 days. I stated I would have to take other measures to get my money back and I have done so via the credit card company. I have an appointment scheduled with a **** dealership to repair the vehicle in a week.

I consider this matter closed, but wanted to complete my response for the record, in case I have to take the matter to small claims court.

    Regards,
