On March 19th, 2024 at approximately 1:00pm, freshcoat painters arrived at my home to give us an estimate for a painting job. I requested the entire main stairwell be painted using satin antique white for the walls, and high gloss bright white for the trim, risers and stringers (stairs). I was later sent an estimate for the work to be done which was 2,047.00. This estimate was high but I wanted a very professional job so I agreed to the price. After the painter left, I inspected the work when I returned home from work. I noticed several areas that were not done satisfactorily. There were multiple nail pops (nails or screws that are pressing out of the drywall and are easily noticeable by eye and to the touch). I took pictures and sent them to Fresh Coat painters and asked that they have the painter return to fix what he missed. I met with the painter again and showed him what I was talking about. The painter (Tim) said he was sorry he missed those spots but they would all be taken care of. When I returned home again, I noticed he still missed several nail pops and he didn't paint the top of the stair trim at all. (see pictures). When I called back to complain again, I was told the sheen of the paint is why the nail pops are showing. I said I disagreed and even if that were the case, the painter should have felt the wall and repaired the nail pops. In some areas, he patched the areas, but failed to sand it down smoothly before he painted over it. It is clearly visible that he did this improperly. I was told I would have to wait a week before they could get somebody to come back out. That week came and went and nobody showed up to paint or call me back.
When I called again this morning, I spoke to Sean (the owner's son) and he told me he would only fix the nail pops if I agreed to pay to have the stairwell painted again using a less shiny paint. I feel that is unacceptable and I told him so. Then he asked me if I wanted a refund and I said yes, however Sean said " We will have to talk about that later." I asked him why do we have to talk about it later? Sean said "Because my father is the owner and he will have to make that decision." I feel that I am owed my money back so I can hire another painter, or Fresh Coat painters should return, fix all the issues and repaint.
