I was admitted to the Cheswick Rehab facility on 2-16-19. I was given a bill showing the amount that I owed when discharged which was $2411.00 . I sent payments starting on 4-16-19 until 11-23-21. These payments were made by personal check and online banking. After I completed paying my entire bill I have continued to be harassed by Shannon P***** From the Cheswick Rehab Center saying I owe $89.00. She told me it was probably an insurance payment that was denied. I have documentation from my insurance that my share of payment was $2411.00.

    Business Response

    To whom it may concern,
I am responding to the complaint filed against Cheswick Rehabilitation and Wellness Center and Shannon P***** (Business Office Manager), by *** ******* *******.

*** ******* was a former skilled resident at Cheswick Rehab from 2/16/2019 - 3/29/2019, upon his discharge he was provided an estimated bill of $2411.00. I specify estimated because at the time of discharge the insurance companies are still being billed for services and therefore we can not determine if there will be any outstanding charges. In this instance there were $89.00 in additional copay's that were due.

During our billing process, *** ******* was informed and also sent documentation confirming this (attached). Unfortunately we can not determine what the decision that is made by the insurance companies and that responsibility falls on the consumer to appeal.

If you should need any further documentation or have any other questions regarding this complaint please do not hesitate to contact us.
    Sincerely,

    Shannon P***** Business Office Manager

    Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********* and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

[To assist us in bringing this matter to a close, we would like to know your view on the matter.]

I have contacted my insurance company which is UPMC for Life.  I have been working with Abbey who works in member services for UPMC and she agrees that the total I owed Cheswick Rehab and Wellness was $2411.00.  She contacted Shannon P***** and requested information about charges, payments, etc.  She received some information from Shannon but it was not complete.  She reached out to Shannon again but has not heard back.  I am very frustrated with Shannon P***** she has changed her story three times, first she told us that the insurance company didn't pay a copay and now we were responsible for it, next she said the payment plan and documentation I received when I was released from Cheswick Rehab and Wellness was only an estimate.  She has now told Abbey that we only paid $2311.00.  I pay all my bills and can't understand how a business can harass a senior citizen for payments that have been made

    Regards,
