So I went to Sweet Peas at 109 Leckrone Highhouse McClellandtown Pa 15458 ( #3 )I grabbed my normal 2 packs of Newport kings in a box I do this daily or every other day. I had a 1.00 coupon and your suppose to save 2.00 when you type in your rewards . The price is normally under 20 dollars like 19.69. I notice the rewards coupon didn’t come off so I told the cashier and she wanted to use attitude and mumbled when she walked to get someone else to see what happened. The other women came and was even nastier and picking at her nails only worried about getting the food they were marking off as waste. She yea it came off when it didn’t I even got the receipt and I know it’s only 1.00 but it’s the point they were rude and when ask the original cashiers name she gonna be smart give me the first middle and last . Now I am a daily customer and to be treated nasty was not okay. I want a call from the owner.

Customer was provided with the human resources contact number which she called on 5/9/2024.  After discussing the complaint with the customer, human resources reached out to the store to gather information regarding the transaction and process in which it was handled.  While reviewing the situation, it was found that there was a misunderstanding with the coupon that was used.  The price of the product had recently just increased, the customer received two $0.50 cent discounts for each pack purchased as well as the $1.00 off for the coupon that she had brought.  Overall, the customer received $2.00 off the purchase but was not the amount she was expecting due to purchasing the same items often.  Human resources directed the store manager to discuss with the employee involved the importance of good customer service and that providing excellent customer service is a staple in the company's guidelines.  The employee was reprimanded for failing to provide the excellent customer service and directed on better ways to handle situations in the event of a misunderstanding.  Human resources called the customer back on 5/10/2024 to discuss the recent events to apologize for the misunderstanding and poor customer service she had received.  During this conversation, we expressed our sincere apologies and thanked the customer for their repeated business and mailed the customer two coupons for the inconvenience and misunderstanding that took place on 5/9/2024.  The phone call ended with both parties feeling the situation had now come to a resolution.

On March 13 2024 at approximately 3 PM I went to Sweet Peas to get gas and a carwash using my bank card. I had a problem with the pump. I went to talk to a manager and she helped me out. The pump didn't print the receipt, so I went back in to talk to manager. While she was printing my receipt, I checked my banking app ( PNC ) to see if I was double charged for the carwash. I Had a $37 dollar charge pending for Sweet Peas and a $100 charge pending for Sweet Peas. I was angry and asked them why. She said that it's normal to do that. She said the hold the money for 24-48 hours. She then put me on the phone with her corporate manager who informed me that it was my bank who held it. I then called my bank (Missy at PNC Uniontown) and she said it was Sweet Peas that holds it. So I went back in the store with Missy still on the phone, and confronted manager again. She phoned another corporate manager, who said it was the banks fault again, until I told him I had my bank on the phone and then he said I'd was the gas company. My bank said she gets a lot of complaints about this company. Charging someone an additional $100 could put their acct into overdraft fees. They put the $100 back into my account by about 6 PM.

      ********

Sorry you had an unpleasant experience at our station. However, I can tell you with 100% certainty that we have absolutely no control over credit card holds. Credit card holds are established by your financial institution and the credit card processor, in this case, PNC and Marathon. I have personally tested this by swiping multiple cards (Visa, Mastercard, Discover, etc...) consecutively at the same pump and they all held different amounts ranging from $0 - $100. Additionally, there is signage on all of our pumps stating, "Your financial institution may hold funds that exceed purchase amount when using a payment card. This station is not responsible for placing or removing holds. You may prepay inside to avoid potential bank holds." Prepaying a set amount (i.e. $30) inside will typically stop the institution from putting a hold on your card and only charge you for the prepaid amount. Again, we apologize that you had an unpleasant experience but we have no control over credit holds and advise all customers that don't want a potential hold to prepay inside.

      Thank You,

      Center Independent Energy
