A few months ago I qualified to adopt at *********. A few weeks ago I got an Email from them with pictures of 4 supposed Border Collie mixes. I decided to adopt the two remaining dogs and made arrangements. Here is where the trouble started. First and foremost I want to pay my respect to the VOLUNTEERS who unselfishly give their time and love to the animals in their care. When I arrived the worker who made the arrangements left within 15 minutes; telling me the other volunteers new what to do to complete the adoption. That wasn't the case. It took over an hour to find the 2 crates that were promised. Suggestions were made that I take the digs without them. I refused. There were no documents stating when the last flea and tick, heartworm or intestinal worm treatment was given. One of the dogs collars was too small and was affecting it's ability to swallow. I contacted the worker who set up the adoption an voiced my concerns. I was promised flea and tick meds would be sent to me in more than one conversation. I never got it. I pressed this individual for the information that was viral to get these dogs iff to a proper start and was told that, and I quote: "You're not a very nice man." $750.00 ($700. forg the dogs and a $50. good will donation.) and now I'm not a nice man. Really!Friends of mine have suggested that dogs are not primarily boarder collie mixes. I took the dogs to my long time trusted Vet ***************************, DVM. at her office in ************ for an initial visit, and we all had a good laugh. She confirmed that the animals were not primarily border collie. They probably aren't from the same litter.I have extensive experience in **/QA in the *********** Industry. I worked hands on in a Family Practice for over 10 years. The problems here lie directly with Management and ultimately with the Vet from Creekside Veterinary who oversees the program. Apparently he can't tell a border collie from a springer spaniel. Be careful, ask questions!.
