    I reserved a tandem kayak for 7/13/24 for $136. Me and my dad arrived at **************** in **, bus took us to ********* base. We were unloaded and placed our coolers in the kayak. The kayak was an open type where you sit on top of it. I was told no more closed type like the single kayaks. While initially ok this only lasted about a 1/2 mile. We hit a shallow spot and the kayak had to be walked. I lost my cell phone in the process. Eventually we pushed it to the shore/side of the river. At this point no matter what we did we could not get back on it without it tipping and filling with water. Maybe it had a hole or the bottom was deformed. It was sitting too low and as soon as a little bit of water got in it tipped and filled the rest. I was told it's good for 1000lb and we are only at 400lb combined. After trying for an hour to no avail we left it by the side of the river and walked up a steep wooded embankment to reach the road. We had no cell phones. We walked back to ********* in 90F heat for what seemed like forever. We explained what happened to employees but they couldn't do much at that base but were nice. We got a ride back to **************** upon which I explained what happened and demanded a refund or credit of $136. I even threatened to sue the company. The employees were rude and disrespectful. No one would tell me their name. Latino guy with ring was on register and his manager was Black with goatee. They kept saying no refunds but I told them the kayak was broken to no avail. We were exhausted and angry at this point. Nobody seemed to care. I wanted to call the cops and file a report but had no cell phone. Horrible day.
