on october 21, 2022, JED installed a new furnace unit at our home. The company gave us a two year warranty. Ever since this new unit was installed, we have had numerous issues installing the necessary filter every 3 months when it's time to change it. Often times, we end up needing to purchase at least two filters because when the company installed the furnace at attached the "boot", they neglected to leave enough space to allow a filter to slide in and out of the slot without being snagged on a number of nuts and bolts that are part of the furnace itself. after 18 months of being fed up with unnecessary purchasing of filters, i contacted the company on March 20, 2024. i wsa told that i would have to pay $150 for a "trip fee" in order for them to come out and assess what i was saying was valid. i emailed the company and got a reply the following day that they would send a tech out that day free of charge. The gentleman came, assessed and verified what i said was correct. he said it was definately an install problem. that this should have been addressed then. he took measurements and explained that a new "boot" would need to be cut to have the filter be replaced AWAY from the furnace and the bolts. i received a call on March 26, stating that the cost of this new boot would be $550. we had no issues with our last furnace and filters and now we do. per their website "Our service technicians customize the ideal heating system to answer your expectations for temperature control and budget. We know a warm, comfortable home is the key to [city] winters, and our goal is deliver 100% satisfaction with our equipment and service for years to come." and "We’ll eliminate surprises from warranty coverage and design the perfect heating system for you. Let’s get started!" they are charging a customer to fix what their technicians failed to do correctly the first time. its under warranty and its their fault. i am asking for this problem to be fixed without further cost to me.

      Business Response

We received an email from Mrs. **** on March 20th regarding her filter issue.  She had a concern as she said our office told her it would be $150.00 to come out and look at the filter problem.  I reached out to her and explained our charge to come out is normally $119.00, however I would waive the charge since she said this was an ongoing issue since installation.  Please note that this is the first time since we installed the furnace on October 20, 2022, that she has called us for anything.  When we install a new furnace, we do not replace any ductwork unless it is quoted in the price.  We sent a service tech out who stated that we needed to build a new furnace boot to resolve the problem with the installation and removal of the furnace filter.  When we contacted the customer with a price of $550.00and she stated that she would just continue to replace the filters the way she has been.   This is when she decided to reach out to the BBB.
