I bought a pkg of breaded haddock for $16.58 Friday afternoon on Jan. 12. It was placed in a plastic bag. When I got home, the three pieces of fish fell on the garage floor and I discovered a rip in the fish pkg. I called the store and the lady said to bring it back for a replacement. I went back the next morning, Sat, Jan. 13, with the pkg and fish, never expecting to have a problem. The owner was at the cash register and argued with me that the pkg was not open when in the store because he packages and seals everything. He could sell me more fish at a 10% discount but wouldn’t replace it because he doesn’t give out free food. However, I had the fish with me. He wanted to know if I would go to a store like Weis and expect them to replace an item. He continued to argue while there were other customers in the store. So I put the fish in the waste basket as it is never safe to eat something from an open pkg. It is terrible to be so rude to a customer, not be willing to fix a mistake and make your customer happy with the business. I lost the $16.58. Therefore, I think this incident should be on record and I should have the fish replaced. This took place at the Duncansville, Pa. store at 114 Hollidaysburg Plaza, Duncansville, Pa 16635 which was not listed on the bbb website under Western Edge Seafood Outlet. ***** did purchase a 2lb bag of Raw Haddock Fillets in our store on January 12th. These items were just packaged that day and double checked to make sure they were sealed. The customer brought in the package January 13th and stated that the bag was not sealed. The package was damaged on the side of the bag, when we seal items, they are sealed from the top and bottom, the side of the package comes solid, it does not require sealing. This ensured us that the package was still definitely sealed when it left our store. The owner of the store simply explained to *****, that we cannot just refund food because of an issue that happened when she got home. The owner also let her know that if she wanted to purchase another package that he would give her a discount.

***** has come into the store before and told us she would only buy product if it was on sale or we gave her a coupon, we have tried to accommodate her as best as we could. She has also asked us in the past that if she bought something, took it home and did not like it if she could bring it back. We've told her we cannot do that because it is food, once she brings it home (how it left the store), we can't give her a refund. ***** is never satisfied with our prices or our return policy. We have done everything we could to accommodate her while she has been in the store. We apologize for this inconvenience that occurred. If ***** would like to come in for a $16.58 refund, we will be happy to do it. We are a small business that handles food, we were not trying to upset our customer. We were simply trying to explain that we cannot give refunds to everyone that leaves our store once the food gets to their home. We truly check all of our products seals and condition before it leaves our store.

    Thank you.
