From the owner of Erie Pop Up Wedding & Events - Cynthia T******: "The services contracted thus far are valued at $432. You paid a deposit for services of $1100. Your contract specifically states that no refunds will be provided..... I have spent an additional hour at minimum reviewing your email, preparing this response and deciding how best to move forward which are again BILLABLE HOURS. Therefore, I will agree to refund you HALF of the difference between my service of 13 hours at $36 per hour and your deposit of $1100 for a total refund of $316.
I will refund this payment on the first business day following this email in the same method your payment was made. Any fees will be your responsibility."
According to Cyndi, the deposit refund should have been sent via Venmo by the end of the day March 6, 2023. Today is April 3, 2023 and I have not received a refund.
Cyndi refers to a "contract" she never signed until I asked to sever services. We offered quantum meruit of $315 for the month she had billable items. We requested a refund of $785 - she offered a refund of $316.
    We are seeking our refund.

    Business Response

    Date: 04/03/2023

The cancellation of this contract resulted in thousands of dollars in lost revenue. The contract was signed by the client who agreed to all the terms and then changed their mind on services and tried to excuse themsekves from paying for billable hours. Legally and contractually, they are entitled to ZERO refund but because they made slanderous  threats to use all resources of the internet to destroy my business, I provided them with a refund quote they were not even entitled to. We will provide that amount and that amount only when our business has the funds to refund.

    Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

My complaint stands as I have not received my refund from Erie Pop Up Wedding & Events. In addition, the contract was not signed by Erie Pop Up Wedding & Events until after I expressed my concern with poor communication and tardy responses (business said 2-3 day turn around, but did not meet their own timelines). Thus, I initiated severing services. I offered the wedding coordinator quantum meruit payment and requested a refund for the part of the deposit that remained after the deposit was made for services.

Erie Pop Up Wedding & Events provided an itemized list of billable hours. After reviewing the list, I noticed I was being billed for things like providing a quote and explaining the services the business provided. I did challenge these billable hours, and several hours listed for compiling information that I never received, but in the end agreed to the hourly rate for the billable time. The business did offer a partial refund, which I accepted and was grateful for as the deposit was money lost and affected my wedding budget.

Taken directly from the contact via Erie Pop Up Wedding & Events customer portal in a conversation with Cyndi T******, wedding coordinator and owner, "Therefore, I will agree to refund you HALF of the difference between my service of 13 hours at $36 per hour and your deposit of $1100 for a total refund of $316.... I will refund this payment on the first business day following this email in the same method your payment was made. Any fees will be your responsibility. "

The first business day following the email was March 6, 2023. The refund should have been sent via Venmo, as this was the same method the payment was made. I have yet to receive the refund, as Erie Pop Up Wedding & Events claims the business is "in the negative, largely due to the monetary loss [they] took" due to the decision to sever services. I have reviewed the business online and I hope this situation will not happen to another person who seeks wedding coordination services from this business.

I used Erie Popupwedding for my daughter's wedding. The business organized the wedding events. Cyndi T*****r is the owner. We agreed that I would provide the flowers for my daughter's bouquet and the groom's bouttonnier. I was due a refund of $149.95 for providing my own flowers. I am still waiting for this refund and I have contacted her multiple times about this. I only received one answer in July that she would look into it. I have heard nothing else from her.

    Business Response

    Date: 08/30/2022

As explained to the bride, we had archived her project in our project management app (something we do after every wedding)  thus causing failure of her automatic refund processing. I assured her I would look into this. I unarchived her account but, being the busiest year for weddings in 30 years, my turn around time for responding to emails is several weeks. My focus is on brides with upcoming weddings, as it was with this bride as well.. The last contact had with the brides mother was August 2, 2022. I will process the refund and apologize for the busy season and delay.
