The company came to coat my 550 sq. ft. concrete patio in early August 2023. Approximately 115 sq.ft. of the area was in bad shape with many small cracks and defects due to water collecting on the surface. There were no deep cracks that separated one part of the slab from another. The defects were all on the surface of an intact slab. I told them in advance that I wanted these defects filled and that I wanted to not see any signs of them when the coating was complete. I painstakingly prepared all of the many defects before they arrived as I was concerned that they might not take the time to do this. I removed any loose pieces and ground out the cracks slightly with a diamond wheel on a grinder. (standard practice). The area was vacuumed and ready for them to fill the voids. They used a fast setting epoxy filler to fill these areas. Actually the areas were only partially filled which saved them a lot of time and another operation. The voids should have been slightly overfilled and then the overfill is ground off to leave a perfectly smooth surface. They applied their coatings and now the defects are still very visible as low spots after the final coating. Prior to them arriving I had discussed that I wanted a smooth surface in this area and even asked if there was an extra charge for this. (documentation attached) My guess is that he never relayed this to his lead worker. In addition the filler they used under their coatings has bled through the final coat leaving yellow blotches in our light green floor. We paid very close to $4,000 for this job and the quality we were promised was not delivered. When I complained last fall the owner made exaggerated remarks about my complaint along with some personal insults. (all documented). He did agree to return for rework and scheduled an appointment for 4/29/24. They never showed up and will not respond to my inquiries.
