I took my 2 vehicles to Shamrock Auto Shops in ****** in Feb 2024 to be repaired. One of my vehicles had a blown engine and it was decided that the vehicle was not going to be fixed, but kept it on the property to get parts for my second vehicle off of it after already removing parts off the vehicle before given ********* by myself. The second vehicle was said to have a fuel pump issues (parts provided by myself) which did not fix the issue, then cam sensors which also did not repair the issues (they replaced 3/4 sensors,) then I was told the issue was the timing chain, I provided the complete timing kit and gave it to them in Jul 2024 along with a $600 deposit (work was not started on my vehicle until Dec 2024 and was told it was completed on Dec 24th, 2024.) I was told it was test driven a week or two after the timing was fixed, and that it now had a severe misfire on cylinder 4, and the catalytic converters were clogged and that they will gut them. My original invoice was estimated to be $2,200 for the timing job itself, with the sensors, and the fuel pump being seperate. The engine was kept in the vehicle to be worked on which I was told would be less in price. I got my invoice on Jan 3rd 2025 with the amount being owed $3,195.72, without the $600 deposit being taken off, which would leave me owing $2,595.72. I called and asked why it was much higher than the original quote and was told they would take off $900 of the bill considering the time its been there and the vehicle not being repaired after being said so for so long. I had gotten a text saying they gutted the catalytic converters, and that they replaced two flex pipes ($155 parts and labor) that were not discussed with me. I asked for a copy of the new invoice and the new total with the "$500 , $600 deposit , and the $300 towing (which wasn't included on original invoice") was now $4,443.82. and with all that off I owed $2,943.82. I brought $500 on 2/19/2025, and now apparently owe $2,443.82.

In the text messages uploaded to this complaint, the price of towing went from $200, to $300 on the second invoice. The owner of the business took my check printed out to me from Harrys u pull it from junking my second traverse due to the tow truck driver showing up before said meeting time and cashed it into his business account without my permission, signature, or knowledge. I found out when I tried to pick up the check. I then called him to ask him where he was with my check and was told it was already cashed and to meet him at the **************** location that he cashed it. He did end up giving me the cash after arguing that the money should rightfully be theirs, and itd be a shame if he had to go get the money out of the account to give back to me. The bank gave me a copy of the check.

    Re: Complaint ID ******** ******* *****

Dear Mr. ************** appreciate the opportunity to respond to this complaint and to clarify the circumstances regarding Ms. ****** vehicle repairs. At Shamrock Auto Shops, we prioritize transparency and ensuring that all repairs are authorized before proceeding.
Ms. ***** initially had two vehicles towed to our shop, agreeing to a $300 towing charge. After evaluating both, it was determined that one vehicle was beyond reasonable repair. We proceeded with the better of the two, with Ms. ****** authorization, and began by replacing several sensors to get the vehicle to start. When those repairs did not correct the problem,we determined that the vehicle required a full timing kit replacement.
Ms. ***** was informed of this in February 2024, but at the time, she did not have the necessary parts or funds. She later informed us she was on vacation, and months passed without payment or the required parts. When she eventually provided a timing kit in July 2024, we gave her an estimate of $2,200 for the timing kit replacement only.
Upon disassembling the engine, we discovered damage to rear head caused by either oil starvation or overheating. With Ms. ****** authorization,we sourced necessary parts from her second vehicle, including camshafts, rockers, solenoids, an alternator, an AC pump, a fuel pump, and a grille. After reassembly, we identified further issues, including a blocked catalytic converter and flex pipe, which we addressed to ensure the vehicle ran properly.
Regarding billing, Ms. ****** final invoice totaled $3,543.82.Given the time involved and to assist her, we voluntarily adjusted the balance, removing $900 from the total. To date, she has paid $1,600,leaving a remaining balance of $1,943.82.
Additionally, we have documented text messages from Ms. ***** stating that we could retain proceeds from scrapping the donor vehicle. However, she later requested those funds, which we returned to her with a signed receipt of $600.
The vehicle was completed on December 24, 2024, and if this issue is not resolved ASAP, storage fees from the date of completion will be added to the final bill. As of March 8, 2025, at a rate of $35 per day, an additional $2,730 will be included in the total amount due.
We take pride in our work and believe Ms. ***** received a fair price for the extensive repairs performed. She had the opportunity to obtain alternative estimates, and we stand by our work and pricing as reasonable for the scope of repairs conducted.
If the BBB requires any additional information, we are happy to provide further documentation.
    Sincerely,
    **** ******* & **** *******

[To assist us in bringing this matter to a close, you must give us a reason why you are rejecting the response. If no reason is received your complaint will be closed as Answered]

     Complaint: 22963590

I am rejecting this response because: The first thing I was told was wrong with my vehicle was the fuel pump that I purchased and provided when the car was first brought into the shop. It was in the vehicle in the box already. They claimed to have had it running on ether and said it was most likely the fuel pump, and changed that. I was not made aware at all that an alternator, grill, or AC pump were being change due to very poor communication. AFTER parts were already removed from the second vehicle, and I was told to just keep it there until the other car was done so they could use its parts, and I then agreed with due to parts already prior to being removed and the car going to the junk yard after the fact. My total was $4,483.82, and my remaining balance as it states in the second invoice that on 2/19/2025 was  $2,943.82. Prior to that on 01/03/2025 my total was $3,195.72, my remaining balance on $2,595.00 before removal of any amount of money. They claimed to have taken $900 off of the bill, just to add more money total amount owed Between those two dates, no further repairs were made to me vehicle besides them replacing 2 flex pipes after only being made aware of 1 needing replacement, and them gutting the catalytic converters on my vehicle. I did not recieve this response until after the date ********** has listed above that my amount would be increasing for the now storage fees, that seems to be out of spite due to this complain. Also, provided to you, ********** stated multiple times that my vehicle was going into the shop at different times because they were backed up, it will be done at the end up this week, or a big job came in, and thats why my vehicle repair kept getting delayed. After changing all of the sensors, after changing the fuel pump I was then notified that the vehicle was not up and running. I ordered the timing chain kit in June of 2024, and dropped it off in July because the parts did not come until I was already on vacation on top of dealing with a high risk pregnancy. I never once agreed, or gave them permission to cash a check that was rightfully mine. Along with being told that a full engine replacement on the other vehicle that I had at shamrock auto shops would cost $2,500, until that was also changed which resulted me in taking in the easier vehicle which I was then quoted the timing job to be $2,200 & now Im looking at over $2,200 more. Any proof I had, I have provided to the BBB.

    Regards,

    ******* *****

Re: Complaint ID ******** ******* Simon
    Dear Mr. **************
We appreciate the opportunity to address Ms. ****** concerns and provide clarity on the work performed on her vehicle.
From the beginning, all repairs and parts removal were authorized by Ms. ***** on multiple occasions, and she was fully aware of our shop rates and procedures. The original bill was $4,443.82. To assist ********* we deducted $300 for towing and labor costs. Additionally, although the donor vehicle was promised to us, we still returned $600 to Ms. ****** which she acknowledged with a signed receipt.
To date, Ms. ***** has paid $1,600, leaving a remaining balance of $1,943.82. In an effort to resolve this matter fairly, we are willing to further reduce the outstanding balance by an additional $200,bringing the total to $1,743.82. However, we cannot go any lower, as we do not work for free.
Ms. ***** was initially given an estimate of $2,200 for the timing job, but as with any complex repair, additional issues arose that could not have been foreseen without further disassembly. It was not possible to provide a final cost upfront, as the full extent of the necessary repairs only became apparent as the work progressed.
Ms. ***** was in direct contact with our shop and had the opportunity to ask questions, seek clarification, or decline services at any point. She chose to proceed with the repairs, understanding the costs involved.
At this time, the **final outstanding balance is $1,743.82**, and we **require prompt payment to avoid additional fees**. If the balance is not settled, **storage charges will be applied retroactively from December 24, 2024.
We remain committed to transparency and fair business practices and hope to resolve this matter amicably.
    Sincerely,
    **** ******* & **** Conover
