Carco is A disaster. Car was a total loss after collision in October. I had insurance and gap insurance. Since the accident, my insurance company has paid the lender. And I have taken on the equivalent of a full time job trying to get the gap payment. I get sent from one company to another spending hours/days/weeks on the phone. I have no car, no money for a new car and an outstanding balance on my credit report which makes it almost impossible to move forward.

I have a GAP contract with CarCo with the extra premium wheel package. I took my car to a local dealership and was told I had 4 bent rims. Well, because of the road in my local area, this was not really a surprise to me. The dealership worked for 3 weeks jumping thru hoops for CarCo, sending pictures and videos of the damaged wheels. CarCo, over this time, made it appear as if the dealership was not providing them with the information needed. Finally, the dealership started copying me on the information that was sent and additional information sent. CarCo told the dealership I needed to pickup my car and take it to another shop that recommend. Upon talking with several people at CarCo, they "could not recommend" a local shop but was refusing to pay for the replacement of the rims. They told me I need to get "a second opinion" on the replacement of the rims. In order to do that, I would have to take the wheels off the car, take off the tire off the rims, and transport them to a another "repair" shop so that can tell CarCo the same thing the dealership told hem and provided provide was not repairable. I can't do this but this is a service I paid for and they are refusing to cover the claim. RUN AS FAST AS YOU CAN if you see CarCo on a contract!

GAP insurance is blatantly misleading & is indeed a sale gimmick for the company I purchased my vehicle from. GAP insurance was supposed to cover the loan amount left after USAA settled. The insurance company paid all but $1300 of the loan and I honestly thought that the GAP coverage would cover the rest but I was wrong. They cited deferred or past due payment; however, the account is current. This company is a ripoff. Stay away

CARco refusing claim. They say because I paid to much for my truck and they only cover so much. That's what gap coverage is for. Dealership also never stated what their total coverage amount is. Leading me to believe I was covered in such an instance lie this. So I was sold a coverage that wouldn't cover from the beginning. They never flagged it. They definitely mislead you intentionally. Why would anyone sign up for something that doesn't fully cover the gap. Unless it's deliberate practice. Which by the looks is just that.

Your signed GAP policy is very clear about the fact that there is a Lending-To-Value (LTV) limit on your policy. As the GAP Administrator, we only discover such things in the event of a claim and have no way to "flag" a policy at the point of sale. We did not "mislead you intentionally".

My car was totaled on April 14th and we immediately took all the necessary steps to get Gap involved. The run around on paperwork was absurd to the point that which the dealer almost didn't have all the answers. Gap proceeded to tell us it wouldn't cover the $660 gap in payment on the car because of a delay in payments which was due to Covid. Both my wife and I didn't work for three months straight so the bank I financed my car through pushed the payments out for us for two months so we wouldn't fall behind because of THE PANDEMIC. That was irrelevant to the Gap company. So, I proceeded to take the steps to cancel the gap coverage and request a pro-rated refund. We then received an itemized list including the deduction of payment because there was "extra wear" on the car that was in shambles from the collision. Before that, the car was about to be sold for far more than it was worth, though that means nothing to a company, it does mean the car was in exceptional shape. Do not mess with this company. They are useless and unhelpful when you're in a terrible situation and you paid them for their services only for them to give you less than nothing. It's an absolute scam.
