Order #****: “Grade area to shed water” in horse paddock, and “install new screenings, wet and tamp screenings until compacted” in horse run-in sheds so horses have a solid base floor. Project date: 1/10/23 Payment in full on 1/10/23: $1,325 Contractor promised that if there were any issues that he would “make it right”. Things looked OK initially, but 2 days after work was completed, the flooring in the sheds was total dust... either the compaction was not properly done or the material was not correct. Horses were in a dust bowl. Notified contractor on 1/13 and he came out within a few days. On 1/23 contractor said he would add more material and redo, but that I would need to pay an additional fee. As I didn’t believe that adding more dust was the answer and didn’t want to invest more money, on 1/30 I asked that he remove the material in the sheds and refund my money. He agreed to remove the material. On 2/5 he sent an email stating, “I am not bringing my equipment back out to your property and I will not negotiate, discuss or comment on this matter beyond this email.” He said he would mail a partial refund ($900) within the next 10 business days. This check was not received until 22 days later. The work that he did to regrade the horse paddock also did not work as was promised. I am looking for a FULL refund, an additional $425. (this does not compensate us for having to remove the material or cover the cost of the horse bedding that was added after the initial install that needed to be thrown away.,... another $110 expense)
