Moved into CornerPark apts in February 2023 and its been a complete nightmare from day 1. I reported heavy drug use to leasing agent who resides at an off based location. Hankin Group, CornerPark Apts and ********************************* did nothing and allowed drug activity to go on for 11 months. The residents who were contacted by ******** would tell me how she asked them if they were doing drugs. They of course lied. Drug use in the building is a lease violation. She did nothing. Instead of handling the multiple issues and lease violations she had an attorney ask us to leave. We did not. She did not offer to pay for a mover or relocation costs and her offer was rejected. She then began her retaliation against me. This company is in violation of our lease and allowed drug activity while she unleashed her retaliation for me speaking up. This company ignored all my complaints formal and informal and allowed lease violations while continuing to collect rent. ******** decided to terminate my lease without renewal in December as a additional step of retaliation rather than fix the issues and drug activity. Move out date is February 17 2024 and on January 24 I requested an additional 2 weeks so that our lease would end March 2 2024 in order to secure a new lease for March 1 2024 at another property. She denied the additional 2 weeks because she enjoys creating disturbing behaviors rather than acting professionally. This company/ apartment complex and ******** are going above and beyond to cause landlord retaliation and inconvenience. They cater to people who do illegal activity and commit lease violations rather than great tenants. A rent reimbursement was filed regarding: breaching the terms of the lease agreement; landlord has breached Pennsylvanias implied warranty of habitability. Warranty of habitability means that regardless of any contradicting lease term, your landlord is required to keep your unit in a habitable condition at all times. (Mice, squirrels and bee infestation all throughout entire time of my lease) harassed by the landlord; landlord refuses to make necessary repairs to the rental unit as per the lease terms. landlord refuses to do anything about excessive drug activity or other issues you are having with your neighbors. Any complaints of drugs made were ignored or for the infestation she sent a maintenance worker once and exterminator who never properly inspected who never spoke to me on where the issues were coming from. They did not want to spend money or time fixing issues. ******** allowed the loss of our enjoyment of the apartment, quiet living and health to be compromised and willfully unleashed a campaign to force out. All Notices, Letters, Demands were ignored by Hankin Group and their corporate offices. Most recently she allowed workers in unmarked trucks with no corporate logo enter the unit next to me for repairs and allowed them to spray and use highly toxic chemicals which caused me to violently ill. No windows were opened and she responded to my complaint by saying the door was shut but in a *************** you can smell what people cook easily imagine the chemicals. The doors were open and photos were taken. She will do anything at any costs to disrupt living here. Outrageous. Unacceptable. Unprofessional. Unhealthy.

      Customer Answer

I asked for a 2 week extension of my lease in order to secure a  new place available for March 1 *********************************, ********** Apts and Hankin Group said no.  My neighbor ******** asked for similar extension as she was moving out around the same time and *********************************, ********** Aots and Hankin Group said yes to her request.  This goes to show the additional retaliation by them towards me by denying my reasonable request. No one was renting my apartment after me and it still sits vacant and is on the market like so many others have been for months so they could have extended me 2 weeks but they decided to continue their retaliation towards me.

This company failed to return my security deposit as required by ************ law. I moved out Feb 7 and they never returned my overpayment of rent. I never received my final water bill.  I left this apartment immaculate, fully cleaned and with no damages at all.  This company continues to fail to abide by the law and the lease.,

The nature of this dispute is between myself and my property management company, The Hankin Group. I live at ****** **** Apartments. My apartment unit has been infested with insects off and on since 04/13/2022 and the property management has not resolved this issue despite my multiple maintenance requests, calls, and complaints. My rental agreement with ****** **** states that the property management has a "Reasonable amount of time" to resolve a maintenance request, and "a reasonable amount of time" is defined as ""7 days"; if the maintenance request is not completed within the "reasonable amount of time", I am allowed to terminate our rental agreement without an early termination fee, and I am also entitled to receiving my security deposit back along with the pro rated amount of the month's rent. After my last maintenance request (filed on 04/19/2023) was not completed within the reasonable amount of time, I emailed the property management of my intent to vacate, and despite attempting to have multiple conversations with them regarding my rights, they are insisting on charging me an early termination fee of $3,424. This goes against our rental agreement. I have lived here since March 2022 and have not missed a rental payment (totaling approx. $25,800). At this point, I simply want to move out and not be charged the early termination fee. Any assistance from the BBB would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time and have an excellent day.
