J Lyons mechanical was hired to come out to my home to recharge our home central air unit. After doing so the unit worked for about 15 mins until it sounded like the compressor was jogging and failing, so the AC still was not working. We asked for J Lyons mechanical to come back out to diagnose the issue. It took him 2 days to get back. Once he finally did show back up after ignoring several text messages, it was discovered by the customer (myself) that the unit in question takes an R—22 charge. J Lyons admittedly put in 410A refrigerant, which is the wrong refrigerant for our central air unit. He began to blame the customer for saying it was a new unit which is false. Any licensed professional would always check tags, stickers, or identifications indicating what kind of refrigerant a unit needs to charge, which J Lyons did not. J Lyons then drained the system, and vacuumed the lines, and after all that proceeded to recharge the system with the correct refrigerant (R—22). The unit was turned on, and the compressor still was not working correctly. It is believed by the customer (myself) that this is a direct result of mixing refrigerants that have different chemical properties and should not be mixed. I pointed out to J Lyons that the compressor worked fine before he put the wrong refrigerant in, and that it the unit only required a recharge. He got mad stormed off, told me I was ****** ******* him off and to call someone else. I asked why he was so mad when I have been nothing but respectful and he said it because I’m trying to blame him, which I am certainly doing since he is the one who put the wrong refrigerant in my unit, causing irreversible damage to the unit. I most likely will now need to replace my entire unit, at my own cost since J Lyons did not attempt to offer a solution after causing irreversible damage to our central air unit. My children are hot, and I’m out a couple hundred bucks with the same problem. I would not recommend this company ever.
