I had gotten into a really bad car accident in April someone had hit me tried to stoke me off the road. I went into shock. My car was Totaled and it was towed to SCS Towing in Glenolden Pa… it’s a garage to store your totaled car it wasn’t my choice to send it to this garage, but it was sent here. This “business” is now claiming I owe them $10,000 for the holding on to my total car that means for the 140 days the car is there it’s $75 a day I was NEVER told of a daily fee or any fee at all for that matter. I was never told I’ve came to this business twice I wasn’t told this in person, not in email or mail sent to my home there was no contract signed or a verbal agreement. I was never told of this information if I was I wouldn’t have agreed to it because that’s ridiculous amount to pay daily, I WAS NEVER TOLD THIS INFORMATION now that I want to pick up my car to sell it this garage SCS Towing is now all of sudden demanding I pay them $10,000 or they won’t release my car to me. When I called to confront them about their scamming ways they didn’t sound confident in their rebuttals. He told me “an insurance called here” when asked what the insurance company name was they couldn’t state a name. My insurance company never called there’s they have nothing to do with each other. When asked who called to agree to this he said “Somebody”. For his lack of information and information giving it’s clear this business is trying to scam me. You will not find a paper trail about payment agreement because there was never one because I was never told in any way. They are just making up numbers as I call. When I told him he WILL be hearing from my lawyer, this company back-paddles and says they’ll be willing to except $5,000 now. We never agreed on payment because I was never told anything about a payment from the very beginning wen my car was towed there. I don’t owe this company anything they are trying to scam me and I will not go for it I definitely don’t owe them $10,000. I’ve tried to resolve with them that I can pay them $150 at the max they still won’t budge on their inaccurate made up amount of payment I also went there again August 18th 2023 to resolve the matter and the owner and employees started to yell at me which was very unprofessional and unproductive as they were yelling the owner let me know that he “doesn’t have to tell me the amount” I would like the bbb to reach out to this unethical business because they are not going by protocol and they are scamming people with no consequences. They are not running a legitimate or proper business.

      Towbook No.:  *****

The Police Department requested we tow this vehicle on 3/28/23.

The vehicle owner came to the lot on 3/29/23, cleaned out the vehicle, and stated the insurance company would be in touch.

We held the car for the insurance company.  When not contacted, we began legal processing of the abandoned vehicle.  On May 15th, a letter was sent to the owner on file (as identified by the Police Department), whom is not the person identified on the complaint.  The vehicle owner was sent a letter stating their vehicle was impounded at our lot along with the following:

IF AFTER 7 DAYS FROM THE DATE OF THIS NOTICE, THE VEHICLE IS UNCLAIMED, THE POLICE DEPARTMENT WILL BE NOTIFIED THAT THE VEHICLE IS ABANDONED AND WILL BE PROCESSED AS PROVIDED IN CHAPTER 73 OF THE VEHICLE CODE.  IF THE VEHICLE IS CLAIMED, THE OWNER OR LIENHOLDER MUST PAY ALL TOWING AND STORAGE CHARGES.  THE ABOVE VEHICLE HAS ACCRUED STORAGE CHARGES FROM THE DAY IT WAS TOWED IN, AS WELL AS A TOW FEE.  IN ADDITION, A $50.00 FEE MUST BE PAID TO THE SALVOR.  THE SALVOR WILL FORWARD A $25.00 FEE TO THE COMMONWEALTH OF PA.

FAILURE OF OWNER OR LIENHOLDER TO RECLAIM THE VEHICLE SHALL BE DEEMED CONSENT BY OWNER AND/OR LIENHOLDER TO THE DESTRUCTION, SALE OR OTHER DISPOSITION OF THE ABOVE VEHICLE FREE AND CLEAR OF ALL LIENS AND CLAIMS.

THIS IS YOUR ONLY LETTER OF NOTIFICATION.

Since there was no response we began to process the abandoned vehicle through the PA Department of Transportation, Abandoned Vehicle Unit, whom would have also sent the vehicle owner a letter regarding the abandoned vehicle.

We were contacted in late summer 2023 by the claimed vehicle owner whom came to our business location.  The gentleman stated he had been out of the country and was not aware that the vehicle was not picked up by the insurance company.  We informed him of the accumulated impound fees, while awaiting for the car to be processed as abandoned by the State.

The gentleman came to our business and became belligerent due to the impound fees accumulated over the 4+ months that the vehicle remained unclaimed.   He threatened our employee, called him a racist, and threatened "I'll get you".  At that time, another employee, asked the gentlemen to leave the premises or the police would be called.

We now have been given title to the car by the State of PA.   We are willing to work out a fair impound fee settlement with the owner.  We will hold the car until November 3, 2023 for settlement and reversal of the Title.

We can submit copies of notice received by the State of PA regarding processing of the abandoned vehicle, if requested, as well as a settlement amount.
