We adopted a cat from ninth life rescue when we brought her home she was drooling and would get a clear crusty discharge from her mouth. I called and questioned and was told cats will have watery eye and discharge until they get used to a new environment.
When taken to the vet she has a feline oral illness Stomatitis . The severity of it had to be an ongoing condition if they had examined her correctly she could have been treated sooner.
The rescue aggred to pay for the $800 surgery since they felt she was missed. I asked the vets office if we needed an appointment prior and was told no. As per all messages.
When we got to the office for surgery we were told she was getting something different from what we were told previously. When we questioned the change instead of simply explaining Jenn ar Ninth life became very defensive and rude we were then told to pick up the cat they would not be doing the surgery or paying for it. We questioned a change in procedures and because we dared to do that they will no longer pay for or help pay for the surgery.
I don’t know anyone who wouldn’t question a surgery that was not what you expected.. Any reasonable person would want to be sure it was the best option after being examined
You wouldn’t go in to surgery for broken leg and be told they are amputating and say ok sounds good…. Most people would ask why the change?

Per the adoption contracted pictured above signed by the adopter, the adopter is responsible for all veterinary costs after the day of adoption. It is also stated in this contract that there are absolutely no health or other guarantees when adopting a rescue pet. This cat was vetted and examined by licensed veterinarian prior to adoption and no medical issues were known. As a courtesy, Ninth Life Rescue offered to completely pay for the surgery needed for this cat's condition, which was to be performedwith our veterinarian. The adopter did not agree with the surgical decisions of our veterinarian and we are unable to ask our veterinarian to change a surgical plan based on an uneducated opinion or an adopters feelings. The adopter is now responsible for this medical care on their own.
