After my prior company who sealed my driveway in the past did not respond, I went to the Internet looking for a Berks County company to get quotes. Most of the sources I found were from outside of Berks even though some listed themselves on the initial search page as being in local towns in Berks. I finally had one person who up who told me that he was using a newly developed coating that was guaranteed to last a lifetime! I must have been brain dead but he offered me a guarantee in writing. I should have asked for his written guarantee and read it before giving him a check....for $1200.00. I the past I paid about $375, the last time being in 2019. After giving him a check he suddenly disappeared leaving his two sons with their truck. Later in the afternoon. when I tried to stop payment on the check, I found it had already cleared so I suspect that he left my job to cash the check at ***** ******** on Lancaster Ave. When he returned, I asked him for the paperwork. He said he would give it to me after he sprayed my driveway. He never did and disappeared. I then called him twice telling him that the material he applied looked the same as the oil based product I always got. He returned my call admitting that his job wasn't a lifetime coating but he would come back every four or five years if I needed another coating. I also demanded a written guarantee. He finally delivered a contract form signed by him on which he wrote "every five years get a free sealer". Had I known in the beginning that I was paying home for less what what he was offering I would not have agreed to his offer. As a senior citizen I am TRULY embarrassed to be taken advantage in this manner. He also checked on the contract that he applied weedkiller which was not the case...I had no weeds. He also checked off that he trimmed the edges which is not true since I have brick and stone walls surrounding my driveway. I hope that you can alert others. I'd like a partial refund.
