    My father passed away 2-1-2023, he previously purchased 2 cemetery plots from East Harrisburg Cemetery. I purchased the coffin and vault from East Harrisburg Cemetery and worked with ***************************, with no problem. She assisted with the burial and provided excellent service. Next, I needed to purchase a gravestone and was told I had to work with *****************, the ************** Counselor/Sales employee. I asked *** for a quote of a gravestone I picked out from another company and he quoted me a price $6,000 more than the other company. *** told me if I purchased the gravestone from any company other than East Harrisburg Cemetery that they would not assist me if the stone got vandalized and to purchase insurance for it. He mentioned this to me 3 times, the third time I realized *** was using coercion so I would purchase the gravestone from them. I purchased the stone from another company. *** stated it would cost $750 for them to lay the foundation and another $750 to put the stone together, once received from the other company. I had photographs of my father added to the design of the gravestone. *** stated that he needed to get approval from owner and ****** prior to taking payment of the $1,500 for their services. After emailing the information to ***, I hadn't heard from him in almost a month. All of my calls, voicemails, and emails all went unanswered. I wanted to confirm that he received the photos and dimensions of the gravestone successfully. On 1-19-2024, I received an email from *** stating that he could not get the owner to approve the supplier of the stone, with no further explanation. I was never told that I had to use a certain supplier for the gravestone. This is obvious pushback due to me not purchasing the stone from them. My family purchased a gravestone from another company back in 1988 and it was installed there with no issues. I purchased the gravestone from Legacy Headstones who has been in business since 1920 with excellent reviews.

    Hello, 

    I have received a response from the cemetery stating that the gravestone is now approved by the owner. The cemetery is responsible for laying a cement foundation which I was told would be completed last week. Unfortunately, that has not been accomplished. The gravestone will take between 2-6 weeks to make so there is some time.  This case can be closed and if further issues in the future should arise I will open an additional claim. I filed a claim with the State Internal Affairs ****************************** prior to opening a case with the Better Business Bureau and the cemetery has never responded to them either. The complaint with you guys definitely rendered a response from them, and I am very Grateful for that!
