I am currently homeless due to a eviction back in October of last year, and I returned to ************ from living with my parents in *************** **. The first time I booked a room at this inn was on March 15 and I booked it through *********** app and my price at that time was supposed to be $172 or so. I arrived in ********** that same night at 8:15 PM and when I arrived at the ***, an older lady informed me that this inn does not take cash. So she directed me to the ****** on ****** where I can put money on my card and I left my bags at the inn to walk there, but on the way, I fell very ill and almost fainted so I was rushed the *******************, where I stayed until the 20th. Since my first booking was completed, I booked again on the 20th via the same app and the price went up to $278.44. When I was released from the hospital, I went to ******** downtown ********** and I put $300 on my CashApp card, which came down to $299 due to a $1 charge. I went back to the inn and this time a different woman was at the front desk. As she was processing my booking, she swipes my card and it declined. I asked why and she said that a $100 damage deposit was required at check-in, which I was not told before. So, I told her to cancel my room and I will go to a different inn.Well, as I sat in the waiting room to find another hotel, I saw that $278.44 was taken out of my account by **********************. I went back up to the front desk and asked about it and the lad said that *********** took the money and try will give it to them later. She told me to contact *********** about it. I did through the app and it said that the in could help me. I looked at the policy of the inn and it said that if I cancel after making reservation, then I would be charged for only the first day, which would have came to around $58. I plan on disputing the charge through my CashApp app but I wanted to go through the BBB to help me. I would like a full refund from the inn.Initial Complaint

I am rejecting this response because:The hotel response falsely claims they gave me a complimentary upgraded room. They first tried to force me into a double queen accommodation by stating there are no king bed-rooms available. I had to press the front desk personnel as to how and why my original paid reservations for a king bed is not being honored. She refused to respond. I then advised her of my intentions to file a formal complaint. I requested her name to which she refused, and she was not wearing a name tag. It was not until after this exchange the employee finally accommodated me with my original paid reservation. I stayed at this hotel on numerous prior occasions. This room was not an upgrade but instead standard. In addition, after I checked into my room I went online and saw that the hotel was still advertising king-bed availability.
The allegation that I was being confrontational and causing a disturbance after I was accommodated with a room is patently false. There was no reason for me to further engage with the front desk personnel after receiving the accommodations I original paid for online. It is apparent the front desk personnel fabricated and embellished the version of events in her favor to management. The hotel response that they are committed to providing excellent service to all their guest could not be further from the truth. This last incident is my third time experiencing such treatment with the same person. The first incident I did not think much of it and did not report it. The second incident I reported it to a female manager at the front desk in detail and no one followed up. This third incident I called and left a detailed message with a staff member who assured me that a manager named **** would return my call. Nonetheless, **** never returned my call.
This hotel ignored both my complaints. Did not bother to even give the appearance that they were concerned with my complaint. They penned this one-sided version of events response that clearly supports their employee and is void of my account of events because they ignored me. This response demonstrates this hotel/management lack of integrity and concern about what is being alleged in my complaint. In this response there are no denials of any of my allegations but instead a false portrayal of me being confrontational for no good reason. This response gives the appearance that management is covering up for this employee and or supports this employee actions.
The DNR status that was placed on me, which I assume bares me from your hotel. Let me assure you, after my experience with your unprofessional establishment I had no intentions on ever coming back. I practice spending my money with professional establishments who respect me and my money. Your establishment appears to be practicing bait and witch with your rooms and/or participating in discriminatory practices.

It is apparent that this hotel is either engaged in a bait and switch practice or racially discriminating. The following morning before checking out I spoke with an employee name *****. I asked him for the name of a manager, and he gave me Mr. **** name. According to ***** Mr. **** will not be in until tomorrow, Monday Feb 3rd at 9am. He gave me the number ************** to call. I called the following morning and spoke with a female who advised me that Mr. **** is in a meeting. She took my info and phone number. She advised Mr. **** will call me back. The guest checked in and was offered a complimentary room upgrade, as our standard King rooms were fully booked. This is a common practice in the hospitality industry to accommodate guests when their originally requested room type is unavailable.
Despite receiving an upgraded room at no additional cost, the guest became argumentative and created a scene at the front desk, displaying rude and inappropriate behavior towards our staff. This aligns with previous incidents involving this individual, reinforcing our decision to place them on the *** list.
We maintain a commitment to providing excellent service to all our guests, but we do not tolerate disrespectful or disruptive behavior toward our team members. Moving forward, I recommend that we uphold the *** status for this guest to prevent further disturbances.Customer Answer

The reservation for this guest was made through a third-party booking platform. As the payment was processed directly by the third party, the hotel is unable to issue an invoice for the stay. The guest will need to contact the third-party platform directly to obtain the invoice.
Additionally, we would like to reiterate that our hotel maintains a strict smoke-free policy. While we take measures to ensure compliance, there are instances where guests may violate this policy by attempting to smoke in the room. In such cases, incidental charges are applied, and the guest is asked to vacate the premises.
During the guest's stay, no complaints were received regarding their room. Had we been informed of any issues, we would have promptly offered an alternative room to ensure their comfort.Business Response

This is 3rd party reservation and book under special rate plan call (Opaque Rate Plan). Guest complains about the issues, and we immediately try to correct that by offering him different room. Hotel hands are tight when they book through the third party. as they check the box about all rules regarding the cancellation policy. This reservation is NON- Cancellable and guest new that, coming back to safety of our guest we are very safe hotel and pretty safe Neighbour hood. Dauphin county police station is just 500 meters, and they response to us is always on time.
Guest also needs to understand that this hotel is in downtown, so lot of unwanted people will be in city wandering around.
As far as reviews goes, you cannot make easy guest happy, if guest would have book with us, we can issue credit back, but when they do reservation from 3rd party, we have to owner the policy.

I am rejecting this response because: I did not sleep at the hotel I should get my money back knowing the conditions of you guys hotel, you guys need to offer refunds! You guys are stealing people hard working money knowing that the conditions of the hotel is crappy so you dont want to offer refund because you all know how much money you all will lose. Go look up the business on ****** and read you all reviews about the hotel! The front desk said that Priceline should issue my refund, I called Priceline and they stated the refund has to come from you all. Priceline even called the hotel and had me on the line.
There is a way you guys can send me a refund and Ill appreciate it if yall give me my money back. I have all the pictures on my phone, even the camera by the room you wanted me to stay in is broken off!

In the email you stated you would love to give me a refund but because its through a 3rd party its hard, so I called Priceline again to start the refund process and nobody wanted to transfer the call to a manager when asked. PRICELINE has no issue going through with the refund but each time they call you guys are avoiding it.

They claim they called me. Yet my cell phone never rang. Fourth they stated at Noon I returned or something. Then stated I returned at 11:30. Then they claim I was loud. I never said anything to anyone at front desk. Instead I carried my bags to my room from the mall. Noticed my room door opened a crack. Noticed items were removed out of my room. Went down to the Front desk to inquire about my items. Especially my brand new ear buds. I just purchased the day before. When I went down to the front desk confused. It's when I got told. My check was at 11. I went to extend. I got told. I can't. That I was SMOKING IN the room. I got showed a black and white print out of what I dumbly left on dresser. Asked about my items missing. Got no answer. I sure never smelled like any alcohol when I returned back to the quality inn. They stole my ear buds. And stole $250 out of my account by claiming i had smoked in the room. Their lies are insane. I want my $250 back in cash. Immediately. And the lies need to cease. They went into my room. Without me being there. Which was illegal in itself. Took my items. Illegal again. Lied about my brand new ear buds. I don't even drink alcohol. That was new news to me.

This guest checked in on 9-8-23 at 8.36PM for 3 nights and departure date was 9-11-23. Check out time was 11 am and guest was not in the room, when staff did the noon check out. We call the guest but no reply, guest came back around *****am and was very rude and loud for no reason and when front desk told him about check out policy, he became more upset and told the staff that I don't care about your policy. Then guest wanted to extend the stay so front desk said have a seat we will inspect the room and if everything is good, we will extend your stay, on that also he was arguing and upset, we don't know why?.
Operational manger went in his room to inspect and found smoking smell and ashes on the floor and joint bud. Hotel decided not to extend him and charge him the smoking fee as per the hotel policy, he didn't agree to this and started cursing the staff and manager, ***** was so loud that hotel had to call 911 to remove him. Then guest came with this whole thing of missing stuff and staff said nobody went in your room.
It's a very long time now but if we remember, we didn't touch anything in the room , only thing we saw was some beer bottles and when guest came back at hotel around *****am, we could smell alcohol from him.
So as hotel policy and safety for another guest we decided not to extend him. We have attached the proof of smoking done in the room and also sign folio by the guest, please see the attachment below.

The lies truly have me upset. I NEVER ONCE SMOKED in that room . The room has detectors that go off when one smokes in any room. Along with SMOKE detectors. They never went off. Why ?! Because I never smoked anything in the room. The policy states: no smoking. ! So why would I jeopardize having $250 taken out of my account.? That's dumb ! They never found ASHES. NOR DID THE ROOM SMELL LIKE SMOKE. I don't deny I smoked ..It was down by the river. ..I don't deny I stupidly took the small piece I had and left it on the dresser. Thinking I checked out on the 13th. The 12th allegedly was my check out. I never smelled like any alcohol. For I don't drink alcohol. Only time I might've raised my voice. Was when THEY showed my the photo print out. Of what I left on dresser. And that my brand new ear buds were missing. I even showed my receipt. I do believe I filed a complaint with both the BBB as the ************************ over all this back in September 2023. Attaching my receipt to my expensive ear buds. They never checked room as I returned back from the ***************** ( do I need to provide Uber receipts as stores I went to at the mall. Like ****** ? Aeropostale. JD Sports. ? From 9/12/23. THEY HAD ALREADY ENTERED ROOM long before I returned back from the mall. So saying they had sent someone to check room after my return back from mall. Is a down out LIE ! When I returned with bags in hand. Some foreign dude tried to catch my attention. I ignored him and went straight to the room. Noticing door was literally opened a crack. Left ajar. I at first thought it was housekeeping. When I entered noticing my things I left on the night stand were gone. I dropped my bags. And immediately charged over to the front desk inquiring. That's when I was shown the black and white print out of the ***** I stupidly left on dresser. When I asked a housekeeper girl if my room smelled of anything. She told me no. Which ****** me off even more. Their lies are disgusting. Request All the camera footage from that day. The BBB will learn I'm telling the GODS HONEST truth. . And that they're lying their butts off. Now once again. Especially of all the lies they told in their response back to the BBB. Want my $250 returned back to me in cash immediately. And my brand new ear buds they stole ..They never had any permission nor right to enter my room without I being present. I mistakingly though my check out was on September 13th.not the 12th. I came into a nice settlement. But even if I hadn't received a settlement. Just on social security. Do you think I would jeopardize having $250 dollars taken out of my social security money ? No ! Hi
Hotel has provided all the information regarding the guest behavior at the hotel and with staff. We are in hospitality industry, and we believe in serving our guest and taking care of them. We have never got any complain from any of our guests at property about missing items from their rooms, infect if out guest forget their pillows or laptop at the hotel, we courier them from our side. Hotel staff work hard days in and out and try to make sure that guests leave happily. We have very committed and trustworthy staff, which will never ever still anything from any room.
On inspecting the room, we found guest was smoking and proof is ashes in the room, we are following hotel policy and that why he is been charge. As for the ear buds we don't know what to say, as guest says he went to mall may be drop over there.
We have also attached the folia sign by the guest, which has smoking policy.

When I returned from mall. Indian looking guy. Tried to stop me from going to my room. Instead I IGNORED him. Went to room. Became confused when I noticed my door ajar. I entered. Noticed items missing off the night stand. That's when I went back to the lobby/ front desk. It's then I was told about check out. And told I SMOKED in room. Charging me $250. Showing me a black and white photo of something I dumbly left on dresser. It's then that I went to retrieve my newly bought items at the *****************. Again. Get the camera footage from that ENTIRE MORNING. ESPECIALLY WHEN THEY ENTERED MY ROOM WHEN I WAS NOT PRESENT. THAT ALONE IS. WAS. ILLEGAL. .I WANT MY MONEY BACK IN CASH TODAY 4/9/24. Today 4/9/24 my caseworker paid for a two week stay at said property. Upon arrival. An Urkel appearing guy. New GM allegedly ( didn't see his credentials) said I was banned from said motel , due to this alleged smoking in the room incident. In which I did not do. Nor was any illegal activity occuring. Though check out was at 11 am on September 12th 2023. I thought I paid until September 13th 2023. ************* since I'm a member. Allows ones an hour or two past check out to check out of room. On said day of September 12th 2023. This motel admitted in the one BBB response..That I returned back to motel at 11:36 am. 36 minutes after the 11 am check out. As I stated. When I returned back from Mall . I went past the front desk. Got to room. Noticed my door was ajar. I walk in. Noticed items missing off my night stand. Went immediately to front desk. The rest is history. ......Today , when this Urkel sounding guy called my caseworker *****. And ***** called me. ***** even admitted the guy was a total A Hole. Upon exiting I did give him the bird. In which he stated how it's on camera. ***************** Constitutions First Amendment ~Freedom of Speech was my right to practice. I am calling ************* Corporate right now.
