I've been having issues with both EZ Pass Delaware and EZ Pass Pennsylvania, and guess who the common dominator is? EZ Pass DE is claiming I owe them $809 based off of $22 actual tolls and PA is claiming I owe $171. These toll notifications were never sent to me because their mailings omitted the apartment number and concatenated the 9 digit zip code, which as it turns out are both pretty important when sending through the mail. Now I'm getting calls from debt collectors and struggling to get ahold of customer service at both of these call centers.

Naturally, they assumed I'm the problem and could only be described as rather unpleasant, unfriendly, and unhelpful. Additionally, as the returned undeliverable mail was undoubtedly piling up, no one was questioning if the process was broken before applying ever more draconian and soul-crushing fees. I thought a simple phone call would sort this out, as obviously there was a miscommunication and charging $800 in fees for $22 in tolls is objectively objectionable, instead a support rep argued with me and said the only way to remediate was to go dispute in person with a paper check. In 2023. As I explained, my address is listed correctly on my driver's license and I've received, and paid, pay by plate notices from other states.

Why is it just DE and PA having issues? Will anyone investigate? Has anyone bothered to look at the litany of online complaints from other people saying the same thing? Mail was not received, fees tacked on nonetheless, rude customer service, BBB complaints unanswered? Why are our taxpayer dollars paying for this?
