I had a terrible experience. Wrote to company/CEO but no response.
      Signed a pool contract/deposit with John C******* on 7/22/2021 . Job #9177:
      1. Received counter-signed contract several months later only after multiple phone calls to office.
      2. One visit by "construction supervisor" who never graced us with another appearance again (despite numerous emails and phone calls). Sent pictures of drainage field (to the co.) with flags delineating . NEVER shared with the various subcontractors which led to numerous problems
      3. Permits obtained finally in June 2022, almost a year after signing. Excavation dirt became infested with cicada-killing wasps confining us to our house for 6 months. Multiple visits by exterminators.
      4. Electrical subcontractor tore up my irrigation system ($4500 repair).
      5. Inspectors failed the electrical permit FIVE times . The electrical co. couldn't have cared less.
      6. Concrete co. had no idea what was going on, wouldn't respond. Left gravel strewn all over my lawn making it impossible to mow.
      7. I was told coping etc. would not be available until I ordered it even though I had ordered and paid for coping etc several months earlier.
      8. The pool was below grade for the pitch of the lawn (every landscaper commented on). Required retaining walls/drainage systems which cost over $18,000. Problem would not have arisen had the pool been 6 inches higher. The construction supervisor (Jeff) was unresponsive
      Suggestions:
      1. Warn customers about the extent this is a heavily DIY project. I was a subcontractor for months working on permits, coordinating workmen. Blue Haven perhaps did 7 days of work in 5 months. Weather was NOT an issue this year.
      2. No coordination of processes/dozens of phone calls to Blue Haven, mostly unanswered.
      4. $30,000 for repairs/costs, not to mention an incredible amount of time (spent in frustration) completing pool. A total of $xxx,xxx......for the privilege of being insulted and ignored.

      • Our Construction manager did meet with customer prior to construction to go over some items. In this meeting the customer was told of the work that would be performed by Blue Haven and was told about the work that he would have to do. After the meeting the construction manager delegates Blue Haven supervisors, and construction office team to look over the job during the construction which was done. The construction manager and the construction office team also oversee all reports from all work being done by Blue Haven.
      • His phone calls and emails with questions that came into the office were answered by the construction office team in a timely manner. Some questions that he had presented do take some time to get answers to and they were answered as fast as possible.
      • The drainage field was reviewed, and the pool build was not in that area. I can only assume that other contractors that the customer had contracted through may have entered that area. The part of the pool build that was under our contract had no work being done in that area.
      • The customers township had different regulations then the many other townships we work with on getting the permit to start the project. Obtaining their special request did take extra time to have this done. This is not under our control we must do what the township requires.
      • We have no control over where insects want to live in the customer’s yard. The pool is approximately 100’ form the house. It is a major construction site and there is going to be and was broken up soil all around the site until the end of the build. It is an inground swimming pool being built and there was major soil excavation being done by Blue Haven and other contractors the customer has hired. We also leave soil from the pool excavation for the customer to use for final grading at the end of project. Leaving this soil helps on the customers cost at the end of the project.
      • The electrical bonding loop had failed multiple times by the township. The bonding loop was installed to pool standards like the thousands of pools that we have built over the years. Once again it depends on the township on what they want done. The township has no written code on how they want it done. We had requested multiple times for the inspector to meet us on site to go over what he would like but they would not set a meeting they would only tell us what they wanted. After every re-inspection the township would find something, they wanted different. We did everything the township wanted and finally were able to pass their requirements. All the extra time and trips caused by customers township requirements are to be added to the cost of the pool, but we did not forward any of those extra cost to the homeowner.
      • All electrical needs to be 18” deep to pass code. Sprinkler systems only go approximately 6”. Sprinkler lines are impossible to locate underground. When digging for electrical lines they use a machine so anything that is under ground may be damaged during this install. The electrician is a separate contractor hired by the customer to do the work. This complaint should be given to that contractor to address.
      • The concrete company once again is a separate contractor hired by the customer to do the work. This complaint should be given to that contractor to address.
      • Many months after the contract was signed the customer changed his coping to an up graded stone. This upgraded stone takes extra time to get.
      • An engineer had laid out the pool and set all elevations. We followed the engineered plans that were also approved by the township. Hardscaping and landscaping is the customers responsibility and if the customer wants to change the lay out and add walls and other items that is his choice not to follow the engineers lay out not Blue Haven.
      • The customer only DIY (Do It Yourself) on his part of the project. All phases of the pool build per the contract were done by Blue Haven. Blue Haven also helps the customer on communicating with the electrical company and concrete company if they use a company that we have used on other projects.
      • This pool build is done outdoors, and weather is always a factor. One day of rain can cause many delays.
      • There was well over 7 days of work performed. There are delays in between work due to many factors, inspections, curing times, customer changes, product availability, weather, (customers work that needs to be done before we can continue - decking, fencing, landscaping) and Holidays are just some of the reasons.
      • We let customer know every time when the next phase was taken place.
      • We never insulted or ignored the customer on intention and did not mean for him to feel that way. I believe when we told him we would get the answers to all his questions and get back to him that he felt we were not getting back to him fast enough or he didn’t like the answer that was given. We worked diligently to answer the customers question as fast as possible.
      • Cost of $30,000 for repair/cost. I’m not sure of what he may be talking about, but I believe he is including cost that are his responsibility. Blue Haven completed this build per our contract with no extra cost due to repairs.

These are frankly, unmitigated lies. The electrical company and the concrete companies were right there on the contract drawn up by Blue Haven. I "hired them" because they were part of what I thought was "a team". I had no idea who they were. Absolutely no one had any idea of the drainage field. Again, lies. This company is rude (and not because they were late or didn't know what was going on...which was often). The construction supervisor NEVER once came back to the site after his initial visit. The electrical inspector from the township gave very clear instructions (they are on the township's website)....however, the contractors/subcontractors did not pay attention to what was needed to be done.

Their methods of communication are antiquated for this era. They don't deserve to be in business frankly.

Our organization - which is a nonprofit that serves children with disabilities - relied on this company to repair our pool in time for summer camp. They were accommodating and super helpful in training us to maintain it long term! Plus it is a family-owned business that gives back to the community! I recommend them!
