Chris installed a new ******** 14 SEER condenser and coil at my home in July 2022. I knew him from a previous addition. It was $4200.00 I left him a check for his work. I realized he never gave me any receipt, which I needed for an electric company rebate and the 10 year warranty. I called and texted a dozen times. I started worrying that maybe in the terrible heat something happened to him, so I asked my daughter to call him. He returned the call the same day. Shortly after the installation I realized I had not received the new concrete slab included in the price. Then I noticed about a week later, a lot of the mulch placed by a landscaper on my garden bed had washed off, a first. A few weeks later I discovered that the stones from the top of my garden wall had been used to level the unit, hidden under some metal cover. I have spoken to ******** AND ******* and they cannot intervene to get me a receipt. I suspect Chris got the rebate from **** for himself. I have no paperwork, nothing for taxes or resale. I am very frustrated. Please help.

     Complaint: 18470206

I am rejecting this response because:

Chris dropped off a receipt, dated for now. He said he was taking the high road and dropped off three bags of mulch at the end of my driveway when I told him a receipt doesn't make things right. I asked where the high road was for the past 6 months.

I found the documentation to my compressor and new coil when I went to change the filter in my blower. They were on top of the filter opening of the unit, between the blower and the return duct. The slide cover for the filter was not attached and air had been escaping since July; An additional expense.

He gave me what I asked for, a receipt, owner's manual, an apology, and even some mulch, but it does not make up for six months of distress calling and texting him. It doesn't make up paying for a concrete slab I didn't get. I have concerns that the blower being supported by rocks will shift if the dirt erodes at all as it is directly in front of my garden hose. It doesn't make up for the cost of the landscaper or the plants that died in the heat this summer.

He is a good person, does good work and charges a fair price, but needs to realize that you can't just help yourself to someone's property or cut corners when you have agreed to a different plan. He could have called me instead.

I told him and I say here, I now believe he is just like so many other contractors, only honest if he's working under a foreman or when someone is there watching. I strongly believe he thought I wouldn't notice that a few stones went missing. But it was thoughtless and created a much bigger problem.

I told him I never want to see him again. It's unfortunate because I really liked supporting his small business. Busy or not, you should deliver what you promise.

I consider this transaction closed now.

    Regards,
