Asbestos USA came to remove tremolite asbestos from vermiculite insulation under upstairs flooring on Tues, 8/1/2022. Down payment for the job was $100; expected total cost was $1200. Total cost not paid as card on file was frozen to prevent further payment due to nature of the situation. The business committed to provide a safe asbestos abatement, but this was not achieved. Safety precautions were not taken, and 3 people (myself, boyfriend, and his dad) are at risk for serious health concerns due to asbestos exposure. We are at risk because the vermiculite was spread throughout the house when it was brought downstairs. Nobody has been able to live in the home since. Besides potential health concerns, all materials within the home may now be affected by the airborne asbestos (clothing, furniture, electronics, etc). An environmental specialist had to be hired (additional $700) to determine the macrons of asbestos now located throughout the home instead of just in one area upstairs. They are coming Fri, 8/5 to determine amount of damage created by Asbestos USA. When speaking with the environmental specialist (*****), they mentioned that Asbestos USA was not a licensed company. A professional cleaner costs $3500.During the 8/1 abatement, Asbestos USA office was contacted during the procedure due to concerns related to the lack of safety precautions. The business offered to knock $100 off the cost of the job, but that was point. They still offered a certificate to show the home was asbestos free. This was not taken due to concerns that asbestos is now spread throughout the home. It should also be noted that the business suggested for nobody to be home during the job. I believe this is because of the lack of safety precautions taken such as asking the homeowner for a shovel, lack of sealing off an area containing asbestos, removing hazardous materials in trash bags, and transporting hazardous materials in personal vehicles. People may be in danger bc of Asbestos USA.
