On September 12th, I took my vehicle to Shine time auto detailing to have a 1 year ceramic coating put on my suv. I was told to wash my car before bringing it up to them because it would help speed up the process. So I washed my suv with Turtle Wax Car Wash Soap I purchased at my local Walmart. After washing it I took it up to Shine Time to have the ceramic coat put on. The owner which his name is Steve told me my suv will be done around 4-4:30 Pm. The time I dropped my vehicle off was about 9:15 am. He called me at 1:30 pm and said it was done. So I went up looked at my vehicle and there was Clear Coat Paint coming off near the back passenger tire. Called the Wheel Wall. He said it has been there for a long time. There were also little chips where it looked like someone was touching up dings with the same color paint. I paid him $190 with tax for the half ass job he did. I want paid for the damages he did, I want refunded back the money I paid him for the crappy job he did and I want my vehicle repainted completely.

    Dear Representative:
We received a complaint regarding our business, Shine Time Auto Detailing located at 1114 Scalp Ave. Johnstown, PA 15904 from a **. *******. This customer received a spray ceramic coating (1 year coating) on 9-12-2022. He dropped off his 2017 Buick Envision around 9:30 AM and we verified the service he was getting which was a one year ceramic coating for $175.00 plus tax. He agreed to the service and the customer did wash the vehicle himself prior to bringing it to our shop. Upon inspection prior to starting the job we take before pictures of any damage we find. We found the clear coat was “flaking” coming up in small areas along the passenger wheel well, so we documented this on our inspection sheet, took before pictures while the vehicle was still wet from the customer completing his own wash, and notified him of the damage. The customer also stated in his complaint that there were little chips where it looked like someone was touching up dings with the same color. We do not do this type of service unless the customer themselves looks up the paint code for their specific vehicle and purchases a paint pen typically from the dealership and requests this service. This would also be an additional fee of which this customer did not request or pay for. We explained to this customer that clear coat failure can happen over time and none of the services we provide would cause this issue. This is a 5 year old vehicle with over 40,000 miles on it. The customer continued to insist that we must have buffed the vehicle and burned through his clear code because he didn't notice the damage upon purchasing his vehicle. Again, as stated we have before pictures and a true burning of the clear coat with a buffer would not even look similar to his damage. Also, this customer did not request a buff and polish, nor did he pay for it so his vehicle was not buffed. His bill will be much larger than $190 if that were the case. This customer also harassed use almost every day following his service and we had to file police charges against him so he may have no further contact with our business. A copy of this customers inspection and agreement of service sheet as well as before pictures is available upon request for the purpose of this complaint. This customer was kindly asked to come back to the shop to show him the before pictures of his vehicle and discuss the matter in person professionally, but he refused and continued to harass us on our Facebook business page.

    Best Regards,
    Shine Time Auto Detailing Team
