In 2023 I had mold in my basement and called CFCC. They recommended contacting AAA Dry Foam to remediate the mold and also recommended installing a ventilation fan that would draw air from the living space that was heated/air conditioned through a centralized system down through the basement and out of the house. ****'s ***resentative, who gave his name as "***," said this system would reduce the humidity in the basement so that the mold problem would not recur. He gave me a quote for the job and I paid CFCC $2085 to install the fan. They installed it, but through the course of the winter, even though the air was heated and the humidity was low in the house, it remained high in the basement. I contacted **** in 2024 because the system they recommended was not working. A technician came to my house and said the fan they installed would not lower the humidity even though the previous CFCC *** and fan literature said it would. Instead of correcting the problem, they are trying to sell me another system to correct the humidity at an additional cost of $4418.

CFCC is not a mold remediation or basement water sealing company and this was understood by the plaintiff when the exhaust fan was installed. The reference to AAA remediation was not related to CFCC and was a recommendation only. The fan was installed over a year ago however the water and moisture in the basement area was not dealt with and will need a dehumidifier in junction with the exhaust fan to help aid the conditioning of the area. There were no warranties or guarantees, expressed or implied with the exhaust fan installed September of 2023. However we offered a discount of $1,000 on a purchase of a dehumidifier to help the customer with this issue. We have been in contact with this customer regarding this issue and were working with her up until this point. All services have been completed for over a year and we delivered the products to her as promised. The structure taking on water is the issue not any products we sold or installed.

       Complaint: 22401221

I am rejecting this response because:

As already stated, I bought the ventilation fan at the recommendation of CFCC for the purpose of reducing the humidity in the basement so that the mold probem would not recur.  The system does not meet the purpose that CFCC told me it would and **** now states that the unit it recommended to me will not accomplish what they said it would when they sold it to me. First they tell me it will and then they tell me it won't, now that I have spent alot of money on their system. If the system they recommended wouldn't reduce the humidity, then they shouldn't have recommended and installed it in the first place. If it needed a dehumidifier instead, then that is what they should have recommended. I was relying on their expertise and now they want to sell me another expensive treatment, relying on their expertise again, without making good on the first promise. This could go on forever, with me continuing to believe their false promises and them changing their minds after they've sold yet another treatment and saying I need something else again. Meanwhile, my basement has been humid during the intervening months and a potential mold remediation situation could be developing which would require yet another expensive remediation.

      Regards,

The invoice clearly states "Basement Ventilation System and Condensate pump installed", which was paid in full upon delivery of the products on 09/05/2023. It makes no mention of dehumidification.

There were never any warranties or guarantees expressed or implied in writing and the representative that handled this project is no longer with the company. However I strongly believe that a dehumidifier would have been discussed during the process and when I spoke with **** on the phone regarding this concern she mentioned she did purchase a dehumidifier on her own and it did not make a difference.

The dehumidifier we offered is an Aprilaire 130 pint/ day dehum. that retails for over $2,300 and requires assembly and installation. We offered a $1,000 discount in good faith and sent **** the proposal prior to the initial complaint. There are also no guarantees expressed or implied on that equipment as well.

Bottom line is we do not claim to specialize in mold remediation, basement water proofing or anything to do with a structure taking on water or humidity.

We apologize for any miscommunication that may have occurred and wish you well moving forward.

       Complaint: 22401221

I am rejecting this response because: As I explained ***eatedly on the phone to the business and in the complaints that I sent to BBB, when I spoke to the ***resentative of Chadds Ford Climate Control (CFCC) when he sold me the fan it was to address the humidity in the basement. He told me that the solution to the humidity problem in my basement was to install a fan to draw the humid air out of the basement. Based on his advice, I bought the fan and paid CFCC to install it in accordance with ****'s recommendation. **** admits that the employee who sold me the fan is no longer with the company and the current *** was not there, so he has no knowledge of the content of our discussion when they sold me the fan. I do have knowledge of it because I was there and would not have bought it if **** had not told me this would solve the problem. The contract was not with the employee-it was with the business. The fact that the employee doesn't work there anymore is relevant only to the point that the current staff has no knowledge of what the former employee told me-not to the fact that the BUSINESS advised me to purchase the unit and the BUSINESS received my money, based on the BUSINESS'S recommendation. In addition to my recollection and notes of the conversation, the circumstances and documentation that I have shared support my statement. The reason for my asking **** for assistance was because the basement had mold, and the manual for the unit they sold me specifically states its use to reduce humidity. I did not ask **** to address the mold itself; I paid a mold contractor to remediate that. So ****'s statement that they're not mold contractors is irrelevant. I never said they were mold remediators. However, they are HVAC experts and they told me the fan would reduce the humidity. They state on their website that they are experts in indoor air quality (*************************************************************************): "Stand outdoors on one of those days when the weather feels perfect, take a few deep breaths, and enjoy the fresh air.
Later, take another deep breathonly inside your Pennsylvania home. How does it compare? And remember, upgrading your residential heating and cooling system adds comfort to your lifeand value to your home. Do I Need an Air Filtration System? They hold themselves out as experts, but now that I relied on their expert, the business ***resentative is telling me that the product that the business recommended and sold and installed is not effective. I relied on their expertise and if they are now saying that they sold me the wrong solution then they need to right the wrong. It would be like having a doctor tell you that you needed a hip ***lacement when you really needed a knee ***lacement. Your leg still hurts and the doctor now blames you for getting the wrong operation based on their misdiagnosis and now wants to charge you to ***lace your knee on top of never having addressed the orginal problem despite your following their advice and paying them for the wrong operation that they told you to get.

In March 2024 I contacted ********** about central air conditioning. Chadds Ford Climate Control came out via my inquiry. The salesman stated his team is currently without work and I would be given a deal to proceed immediately. The salesman performed an assessment of the house and proposed $14,000 for a central air system, heater replacement, and electric upgrade with a 60-slot panel.Below is a small portion of a long list of Chadds ****s unethical conduct. Chadds **** bypassed HD. Although I called HD, the work was financed through Chadds ****, not my ********** CC. The electrician arrived over a month after AC installation. Although the proposal included electrical work, the electrician charged me an extra $100 after he was done. **** from Chadds **** told me I am responsible for the cost, and it is only $100. During the summer, the central air system would not work. Chadds **** sent someone out, who called me in the evening telling me he is too tired to come out. The same technician came out the next day and could not find the issue. Another Chadds **** technician came out and advised me to put window AC units in my house. After the installation, I was told by several of their techs that my house is old and only built for heat. This implies they did not think it would work properly from the start but did not mention it to me. Electric work failed inspection. Two different **** on separate occasions said they had to come back out to fix something in evaporator coil. Both said they would make minor adjustments in the open ceiling basement ducts while here. Owner refused to allow said minor duct adjustments promised by his guys unless I paid $650. I told the owner its not good business to rescind what is promised, but he didnt care. Found out the electrician installed a 40-slot instead of a 60-slot electric panel. I have no extra slots in the 40-panel. Email to owner was ignored. Next step is court and internet publicity.

We have been in contact with the customer and working with him to complete the work and get final inspection.

The panel was upgraded to the 60 slot panel as described in the original proposal yesterday 9/18. We will be returning on 9/27 to label the panel and install a generator interlock switch. At that time all proposed work will be completed and we will have the final inspection with the township.
