The following describes a pending government action that has been formally brought by a government agency but has not yet been resolved. We are providing a summary of the government’s allegations, which have not yet been proven.On November 7, 2024 the Westmoreland County Detective Bureau filed charges against Attorney John Allen Roth for theft, financial exploitation, deceptive business practices, and receiving stolen property.
According to the suit, Mr. Roth visited an incarcerated woman and offered to represent her, despite the fact that she already had legal representation. He then told her that he could get her released from prison if she paid a fee, and then requested she give power of attorney to one of his employees. The woman had previously been deemed not competent to stand trial.
From April - August of 2024 Roth and his employee made withdraws from the victim's bank account totaling approximately $31,300.
This matter is pending. All parties are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
