My son was supposed to attend a summer camp that was supposed to last 5 weeks and because of my son's behaviors I had to pull him out but I requested that we be reimbursed either for individual sessions to see if that could help with behaviors or be reimbursed for the last 2 weeks of camp he did not get to attend. I also pulled him out because I didn't trust that they really had enough support for him even though the teacher said they did. I really just would like reimbursement so I can try to take him some where else for help since he did not attend the full session.

Time 2 Talk Therapy Services coordinated our second annual summer camp for individuals who utilize Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) as their primary means of communication. The Everyone Deserves a Voice AAC Summer Camp ran in two sessions Mondays through Thursdays for 4 weeks beginning on June 27th. The first session ran from 10am-12pm and the second session ran from 1pm-4pm. There were no camp sessions held the week of July 3rd-July 6th due to the holiday.
The Everyone Deserves a Voice AAC Summer Camp consisted of a staff of 4 Speech Language Pathologists, 1 Certified Special Education Teacher, 1 paraprofessional, and 5-8 additional volunteers at any one time. The camp tuition is $3,500 per camper. Camp tuition covers the cost of camper/family materials, camp shirts, guest speaker fees, outside organization presentations, and snacks/refreshments, and payment of stipends to our paid employees to name a few.
The camper in question attended all weeks of the camp with the exception of the last week, however, the staff did not receive any notification written or verbal that the child would not be returning; therefore materials were prepped for the final week of the camp. The child attended all activities for those weeks which required payment in full ahead of time. Additionally, all of his materials were purchased including: pencil pouch bags, adapted scissors, adapted crayons, 4 picture story books that were modified with picture support, customized pictures supports/schedules, sensory materials that were solely for the student’s use. For the duration of the time the student was at our program, he had 1:1 or 2:1 support for completion of his activities.
Additionally, the parent was provided with 14.5 hours of training regarding the implementation and support of an individual who utilizes an AAC system. These trains were held live via **** and then recorded and shared out to families for later viewing if they were unable to attend live. Several of these trainings were paid speakers that required payment up front prior to the speaking engagements.
Finally, this camper’s tuition was paid out of a compensatory education fund that is held by the ********* Area School District. Therefore, the funds were paid to Time 2 Talk Therapy Services by way of the ********* Area School District not directly from the customer. Every district was provided with a contract laying out what our program supplies and does, however, not all districts returned a signed contract. There is a statement in the customer’s statement that states “I also pulled him out because I didn’t trust that they really had enough support for him even though the teacher said they did”. In our contract it states in Section 3, Line B that Time 2Talk Therapy does not supply the
following services: nursing, wraparound services, and interpretation services.
Additionally, the parent “pulled” the student following him seeing her
following an activity and wanting to leave with her. The parent participated in
the activity making the child think he was going home afterwards. Parents were
strongly encouraged to not be in view of their children if they were remaining
on our premises as it increases refusal behaviors to participate with our
teacher and clinicians. Payment was provided to our program in February of
2023. Our speakers, activities, and materials were booked and scheduled based
on the availability of funds that we had for confirmed campers.
I am supplying a copy of the
contract that was provided to the school districts. Again, Time 2 Talk Therapy
does not see the need for a refund when activities were attended and engaged in
and materials were purchased directly for the student’s involvement in our
    program.
We are happy to disclose any
additional information that you may require.

Thank you for your assistance in
    this matter,

    Chief Executive Officer
