I wanted to get my car's dash, center console, steering wheel trim, and selector/shifter pistol grips hydro dipped in a white birch like wood grain. On July 7th after another artist hired to paint the pieces fell through I contacted "Bulldog Hydrographics and Firearms LLC" for a quote (which was double the other guy). After sending pictures of the items and description of the work I wanted done, I drove to *****. We filled out a sales contract that had a detail section of the work I wanted done. I do not have a copy of this nor did he let me see it when I confronted him about the work being incorrect. He said the costs would be 650 and take 4 weeks. At the register he said it would be 680 and the final charge on my card was 706.The pieces were taped off, primed, and base coat of white done by me. He said he would have to respray the base coat. This was only done for the ***** selector grips. No other console piece or steering wheel trim had any new paint added to it. He also said he would coat the pieces in a clear coat of satin finish. I was able to smear the hydro graphic ink with a finger nail and saw no clear coat. I asked for him to give it a professional touch. He not only did not add any base coat paint or sand, but he used the taping job I had done. So for an ever increasing price to 706 dollars I did the vast majority of paint and prep for dipping. Then when he dipped the pieces, He made the wood grain go in the wrong direction. When confronted about this he argued saying I asked for Dash and center console to go in the same direction. This does not match up with the directions I gave from our text messages, where I sent a picture of the pieces and drew lines to indicate which direction I wanted the grain to go. He did not produce what was agreed upon. He charged for work he did not do. The quoted prices kept changing. I was charged 706 dollars for amateurish and poor quality work that has ruined my car interior trim.

    Business Response

We are disappointed you feel this way. We take pride in our work and whenever a customer wants a change or not happy with something we ALWAYS fix any issue no questions asked and the same would have been for you if you did not come back into my store being rude, disrespectful and belligerent after you initially inspected all the parts and said they looked great. you left and returned a few minutes later and you had your reciept in hand but I was helping another customer. This upset you and you cursed and you walked out the door. Then you returned and became loud and aggressive when I tried to explain everything to you. When I pulled out the work order you cursed again and stormed out of my store. This was totally unacceptable especially when there was a customer in the store. From day one you were upset about the price. You could have taken the parts elsewhere. My prices are some of the lowest in the industry. YOU brought me the parts and was adamant that you wanted no paint on the chrome so YOU taped them up so you knew it was right. Respecting that, I left your tape. YOU signed a work order showing the direction of the Wood grain pattern that was agreed upon. Also to mention you said you did half the work???I had to re sand all your paint that you tried to do yourself  to get all of the runs out before I could begin my work.  We had to repaint the parts because if you know anything about hydrographics, the hydrographic film will not adhere to cured paint and requires a special paint for hydro dipping. You should have know this before you decided to rattle can and run all the paint which was just a waste of your time and added more work for us to do the job.  I did quote you 4-6 weeks as I tell most of the customers where I have to special order the film because I have no control of *** and shipping but your job was brought in, completed and returned in 12 days. . You also state the pattern was distorted? Its a wood grain pattern nothing is consistent with an inconsistent pattern. Do your homework or better yet, listen when I tell you the pattern may stretch and don't say "that's ok woodgrain isn't perfect".
Also you requested a satin clear coat... I don't know what you think makes it look like how much clear is on there but there is 2 coats of clear which is standard. There is no way any ink f rubbed off with your finger unless it was on the back side of the part that you do not see and we do not clearcoat.

Bottom line is you had an attitude from day one. You didn't like my price. My price never changed from what you were quoted. You were charged $650 for the work. Pennsylvania charges sales tax  and on my counter at the register there is a sign with my fees. Clearly showing there is a 3% surcharge for credit cards but no fee for cash or debit. You realized YOUR tape job was amateur at best. If you came back to me and didn't act like you did in front of my customers and storm out the door cursing, we would have offered to fix any issue but considering the work WE did was not the problem and the problem was your ignorance. That I can not fix.

[*o assist us in bringing this matter to a close, you must give us a reason why you are rejecting the response. If no reason is received your complaint will be closed as Answered]

     Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because:

This is not a reply to the BBB it was a copy/paste from his response to a ****** review.

I did not ask for the dash and center console to have grain going in the same direction. The grain direction is clearly outlined in the texts sent to the business. The Work Order has been altered from the time I signed it. I distinctly remember asking for the the dash and the center console to form a "T", I wrote that in quotation marks in the work details. It appears the T was erased and replaced with a <--> symbol. I did not ask for that in the text messages. The final pieces do not match the picture I sent outlining the direction I wanted the grain to go in. I would not ask for that in the store. Because I would ask the grain to follow or be parallel to the longest side on those pieces. As is all wood grain for these pieces in other trim models. I would never ask for the dash and center console grain to go in the same direction. And I did not write it so, or accept it so in the contract.

The workmanship is subpar and not professional. The pieces upon receipt have bits of painters tape and adhesive on the edges. There is no evidence of a fresh base coat of paint being applied to the dash or center console because there is grey plastic visible through the hydrographic pattern. If the business had sanded paint runs, then why is there a gritty unclean texture in one corner? why is there a raised bump from errant painters tape?

More than likely the business performed sanding, base coat, and proper dipping on the ***** Pistol grips. But as evident by the pictures I provided, the edge and tape job around the "*****" logo is not a curve, but an irregular line.

The receipt does not dissuade the fact that I while in the business, at the register, never saw the final amount that would be charged to my card but told just to sign.

    Regards,
