      I contracted with Smoker and Company to complete my business and personal taxes. I provided the company with all required documents by roughly March 2023. I was not told that my tax preparer filed an extension on my tax return. After asking how much I owe in taxes on May 17, 2023, I was informed that my taxes were not yet filed. I continued to ask how much I owe the federal government in taxes and I have yet to receive a response since the May 17th date despite various emails (able to provide a copy of email correspondence). At this point, this negligence is prohibiting me from paying the IRS my owed taxes.

      The client's 2022 tax return was completed and mailed out on 7/5/23. The return cannot be electronically filed until the client returns the signed Form *****.

      An extension was timely filed to extend the filing due date to 10/16/23. We did not have all the information entered to provide the client with an accurate extension payment amount to pay by 4/18/23, and have therefore included a check to reimburse the client for late payment penalties and interest calculated through 7/15/23.

      The client was provided an estimated amount of tax to pay for federal, state, and Philly taxes via email on 6/5/23, as well as instructions to pay federal and state taxes online on 6/6/23. Both of these emails were included as attachments to the original complaint. We requested that the client update us if these payments are made so that it could be reflected on the return (no payment was made). We requested the client to hold off on paying the Philly taxes as we were still researching into the Philly tax code to see if we could lower her liability by allocating the work she does outside of Philly even though she is a Philly resident. Since our client base is focused in ********* County PA, we wanted to make sure we did our proper research into the Philly tax code that we are not as familiar with before taking positions on the tax return.

      I apologize for my delayed response. After filing the complaint, the company did issue my tax paperwork along with a refund for the federal late fees that were accrued.
