Contacted Jay many times concerning issues with his work. Installed a bathroom vanity. Called a week later because door wouldn’t close. He said I broke it (July 2023). Contacted Jay many times for light coming out of ceiling. Refused to fix it( installed July 2023) asked for receipts because toilet seat won’t stay attached He told me to keep tightening it. Asked about mold in tub surround. He said it didn’t need caulking and he would show me the information about it. He never did.
Told him screen door handles were rusted and I asked him for receipts to use the warranty. He wouldn’t give them to me. When I talked to him he spoke to me as if dealing to a child. Very unprofessional. He refused everything I asked and told me I broke what needed fixed. I am 69 yrs old and am filing this complaint because of his lack of professionalism and refusal to correct what went wrong along with refusal to give me receipts to cover warranties. He was paid over 10,000$. Would not take a check and only would take cash. I backed into his truck which was parked in my grass and he asked for 250$ for damages. I gave it to him but he never gave me the estimate for repairs. I would very much appreciate anything you could do to rectify the problems I am having with this contractor. He never gave me receipts for the cash I paid him. He said he would but never did

I have made several attempts to go over concerning issues. The concerning issues are not a fault from installer or manufacturer I personally never said that she broke it but there is a few other people in and out of that residence and I have witnesses to confirm this. I have fixed the vanity door code once the screws were totally ripped out of the vanity, this was not because of poor installation or manufacturing Issue the issues with the light fixture is clearly not clue improper insulation or manufactures fault. There is documentation of several times trying to get together with customer and each time it was either not a good time or for lack of better terms was told not to worry about it.

I also have documentation of this. The first job I did for this customer was installed storm doors after I installed the storm doors I gave her the receipts. I do not have them in my possession that way if there was a warranty issue she would have been able to correct the Issue with the manufacturer. I have never once been unprofessional with this customer. I have been yelled at.  I have been screamed at. I have been belittled many times and I also have witnesses to this. The date we finally got to go overset Issues customer was irate and would not talk to me in a reasonable manner (voice).  I could not rectify anything when I asked numerous times to try to do so and that was July 4th 2024. I also have a witness for this. I also have documentation of this. the toilet seat that has came loose is not from incorrect install, sometimes these do come loose time to time. The tub unit that was installed in this customers residence was installed according to manufacture specs. This also included not to caulk unit in Pacific areas I have installed many of these units and never have I had an issue I have never had issues like this with a customer before. If it is something a fault of install I have always been more than accommodating to take care of the issue, and if the issue is not from manufacture fault nor installer there will be a separate charge. The receipt to this job were claimed on my taxes as so was the money paid out. I have documentation that it was clearly not my idea to take cash, I have never said I would not take a check.  that was the customers suggestion. because she said this way I don't have to claim it on my taxes, and I have documentation of this. I also have customers and many checks to prove that I do take checks.  I was more than willing to go over the issues and come to an agreement to take of it but the customer refused to hear me out. Yes the customer did back Into my truck. I told her I would talk to my guy and get a quote, the quote was verbal it & was for $475.00.  Unfortunately I can no longer make good on this quote as this gentleman is no longer with us. I thought I was being fair when I told her I would accept $250.00 for the damages to my truck. I am guilty of not giving her a receipt for that. After I finished said bath room. I have went back after the bathroom was complete and have done other installs. If I did the jobs that she is stating why did I return to the customer for other installs. I have documentation for everything I have mentioned above. I have tried to rectify the situation. I patiently waited for the customer to be able to get together over set issues and there were times I was unavailable but l also left it to the customer to let me know when they were available. Everything that has been done for this customer has been done according to manufactures specs, and common practice.

    Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

I have read the papers you sent me regarding my case.  Thank you for your time and consideration in this matter.  I have included 2 sheets with information about this case. They are texts and include the dates not verbatim but very precise, hopefully.  The first page from the contractor states the problems I have encountered are not his fault or the the manufacturers' fault.  He would not give me the receipts to see if they could be returned or under warranty.  As for saying there are a few people in and out of my house and he has witnesses to prove is totally irrelevant and by no means any of his business.  The vanity screws were not ripped out and he did attempt to fix it but it kept happening.  For that reason I wanted the receipt to take it back.  The texts and dates allude to the times we tried to meet to rectify these problems.  How would he know it wasn't the manufacturer's fault? I believe he used my money to buy cheap materials that would not be expected to last  I consider that an insult to me.  I want to know exactly how much these materials cost.  Why would he think to give me receipts to the screen doors (in case there were problems) and not receipts to the other materials purchased (in case there were problems)?  Jay did give the warranties for the doors but they are no use to me without the receipts, which he never did give me.  His demeanor to me was belittling you could see in the texts,  He called me "mama", "little lady" and a few other things.  Very. very unpropssional. I am very offended that he would say he had witnesses to everything, even on July 4, 2024.  Of course the witnesses were family, good friends and co-workers.  I was angry on July 4th only after he refused to rectify any problems or give me receipts and the person with him was just as disrespectful.  The texts all tell when meetings were set up and broken.  As far as my moldy shower surround he said he would give me the paperwork and receipt to prove himself but he never did.  As far as cash, he did ask for cash.  I never received one receipt.  You can also read that in my texts.  The problems with his work started 9 days after my bathroom was finished.  I did not press the issue as I should have until my light fixture fell apart and he accused me of breaking it or my 10 year old granddaughter breaking it.  My light switch to the vanity light quit working also.  I feel that if I was given receipts after asking numerous times, the problem would not exist.  I am asking for neceipts for my shower surround, the vanity, and the overhead vanity light.  Maybe then I can return these items or exchange them.   Once again, Thank you for your time and consideration.

    Regards,

This is all the receipts I can find for this job.  Now I was able to get the receipts for the storm doors from where I purchased them. There is a few receipts that are missing either they got wet from me sweating or they got misplaced. As for the for the tub which was about $600.00.  It was also had the insulation on it, along with with some lumber.  And a few other things that receipt came to about the total of $1,200.00. Also the plaster work for me to have a guy come in and plaster the bathroom was $600.00.  The dumpfee for everything was $192.00 that receipt is also missing. This is all ther receipts I haven't totaled. I did go back to where I purchased the storm doors and was able to get another receipt printed hopefully this handles this situation.
