Dear BBB, I called the office before my appointment for eye fillers for an appointment for the date of 11/27/ 23. Once at my appointment, I signed the papers regarding the treatment with no fee attached. Once I saw the doctor, he looked at me and said something about my age which he always does which sounds strange. I have seen doctors for cosmetic consultations sometimes it’s free and other times it’s not if there is a fee you pay before the appointment or sign to acknowledge the agreed fee. Being that it’s a cosmetic procedure, ******** does not pay to cover the procedure. After the doctor stated that he could not do the procedure but would refer him to another filler, he said before leaving that the consultation will be $150.00. I paid the amount but felt strange that I would be told the fee afterward without a signed agreement I felt as if I was taken advantage of on-the-spot surprised billing. After I returned home, I called, and the representative gave me a hard time, but finally agreed to have the doctor call me, which he did, and he nicely apologized for the confusion. I thought, considering that he agreed to the mistake and apologized, that I would receive a refund being that he acknowledged and agreed that I should have been told about the fee. Instead, I received a bill for $40.00 and ******** was sent a bill for $130.00 they paid $90.00. This charge was from a doctor I did not know and had never seen for the same date of service. I now have to notify ******** as well to be clear with them regarding spurious unauthorized charges on the same date as my office visit regarding a non-payment to ********. an unauthorized consultation fee I paid my doctor $150.00: on 11/27/23 a billing error of $130.00 ******** paid $90. 00 and an unauthorized balance error was sent to me for $40.00 from a dr. that I do not know or have seen. The $150.00 should be refunded. Due to an office error of the agreement of the charge before the appointment. And an adjustment off of my file for a $40.00 bill from a doctor that I have not had an appointment with.

    Business Response

I spoke with this patient on January 5, 2024 and listened to her concerns about the $150 consultation fee she was charged. The charge amount was correct. However, based upon patient sharing it was not clearly explained to her at that time that she would owe $150, I let her know I would review the situation with her treating physician. After speaking with the physician, he agreed to refund her the $150 in light of any miscommunication about the fee. I then called the patient back and let her know we would refund her the $150. She seemed quite appreciative at the time. A refund was promptly processed to her credit card.
