The initial appointment I asked Dr ******’s staff about how much it would be to get the procedure done , I was told it would be around $1500. I get the procedure done and I get a surprise bill from the hospital which is in the same building and I was never once told any details about an operating room which wasn’t necessary to remove Lipomas as I had these removed in the past in a office setting, I expressed my displeasure with the $3300 I was charged from the hospital and the practice manager ***** ******* point blank said if they told me real cost that I wouldn’t have done and I agreed with that statement , ***** & Dr ****** said she would speak to their to ensure they disclose the true cost. This was a case of deceiving clients to gain business , I’m beyond disgusted with their business practice and I was advised to either apply for financial assistance or pay in installments. This practice should be held reliable for the $3300 since lying to clients is part of how they gain clients, if they don’t pay it, I will be taking them to small claims court for 5K due to so much hassle and anxiety I had to endure the last two months and they truly don’t care based on their attitude.

    Business Response

    Dear *** ****:

Thank you for bringing the concerns raised by *** ******* ****** to our attention with an opportunity to respond. Please note, I am submitting this response on behalf of both Main Line Health and Main Line HealthCare d/b/a ****** ******* *******, both of which received this complaint.

*** ****** was originally scheduled for his procedure on December 22, 2022. Main Line Health provided an estimate to *** ****** on 12/20/2022, at which point *** ****** was insured under an ***** policy. At that time, Main Line Health provided *** ****** with an estimated patient liability in the amount of $1,599.81. This took into consideration his benefits at the time, along with his remaining deductible amount, out of pocket max, etc. *** ****** called our scheduling line on 12/21/2022 at 1PM and canceled this procedure. *** ****** rescheduled this procedure several days later with our scheduling team, with a new procedure date of 1/26/2023. In 2023, *** ******'s insurance coverage changed to an *** policy with different coverage limits, deductible amounts, etc. Main Line Health was provided with this updated insurance on 1/3/2023. The original estimate, which *** ****** referenced in his dispute letter, became null and void upon cancellation of his original procedure on 12/22/2022. *** ****** did not request an additional estimate under his new insurer, and one was not provided to him.
While we acknowledge *** ******'s opinions on the value of his procedure, his procedure involved Outpatient Hospital Surgery which includes both a facility and hospital-based charges.
Main Line Health submitted claims to *** ******'s insurer, ***, for the procedure in question and they have assigned the below amounts as his responsibility under his policy agreements:
    o Deductible:
    o Coinsurance:
    $2,962.74 $1,652.36
*** ****** has since elected to sign up for a payment plan with Main Line Health for the next 18 months, which we offer at a 0% interest rate.
Also, of note, there is signage at the time of check in, that the patient is receiving services in the hospital outpatient facility and hospital charges do apply.
I trust this concludes this matter. However, if you require any further information from us, please do not hesitate to contact me.

    Very truly yours
