I've purchased a "cancel anytime" membership from Anytime Fitness in 2023. Upon becoming pregnant, I stopped using my membership. In January and February, 2024, I called Anytime Fitness's office in ***********/*********** and also the customer service line to notify them. I didn't get ahold of anyone in the local gym after several attempts so I pursued the customer service line. Upon having a conversation with the customer service representative, I informed her that I was no longer using my membership as I was pregnant and did not want to be charged anymore, I was turning off this charge and no longer allowing it to charge my account. Being that this was a cancel at anytime membership, she said she would handle this for me since I was very sick at the time due to my pregnancy. She told me she would handle it and not to worry. Recently, an outstanding charge was added to my credit report in collections from Anytime Fitness. This collection's report should have never been filed if Anytime Fitness did their job correctly and didn't blatantly lie to me on the phone, taking advantage of a sick pregnant woman at the time. This is having very negative effects on me currently, such as keeping me from buying a home for my family as there's a $200+ charge that I supposedly didn't pay for a membership I did not use and asked to cancel. I would like this removed from my report immediately as it again, is keeping me from buying my family a house. If you review my attendance at the gym, I did not use my membership for the weeks/months I was charged for -- yet, the gym just kept trying to charge my card. I notified customer service of this, as well. They assured me that this would be taken care of.

    Hi There,

    My apologies for the delay.

First of all, I believe you may have the wrong info for the owner of this location. It is no longer Steve Segulla. See below the new owners information:

    Zacari Pennington

I did review the case above. For context, we took over ownership in March of 2024, but notes in the system do carry over from one ownership group to the next.

I see a few notes in our system showing that a representative from the previous ownership called Alicia on 1/4/24 at 11:41 am with no answer.

From that point, I see a handful of notes from our billing company directly on reaching out when the account first became delinquent. This is a series of calls, emails, and letters sent - I also see that she did call ABC Financial after about a year where they told her she needs to reach the club - will attach copies
I also see a text message from Alicia to our Club Manager at the time on 6/5/24 explaining that she her phone was broke and essentially told him that since she's not using the club, she shouldn't pay.
I see in our system that Chris, the Club Manager reach out multiple times on 6/6/24 and one final time on 7/9/24 with no response or no luck.

The attachments would not allow me to add the final one that shows POCs from 6/6 and 7/9.

My name is Shane, and I am the Director of Operations for the location.
