In January of 2023 I reached out to Triage Restoration to inquire about fees to receive an estimate to repair property water damage with homeowners insurance (Travelers). I was informed that estimates are provided at no cost to the requester. As a result, I scheduled an appointment to have an estimate completed for my laundry room. Someone came out and I received the estimate. At this time I was once again informed that estimates are provided free of charge. I decided to move forward with working with Triage Restoration on mitigation of the water damage in my home. Over this time, the source of the water damage (originating from the unit above me) continued to leak and damaged my guest bathroom. I asked Triage Restoration to also provide me an estimate for mitigation of the new bathroom damage, as well as repair estimates for both the bathroom and laundry room. At this time I was once again informed that estimates are free of charge. However, after receiving the subsequent estimates for repair services there was an issue between Triage Restoration and my insurance due to the fact that Triage Restoration was attempting to charge for unnecessary services for the repair and refusing to remove those line items. As a result, I was told by my insurance that I must use another contractor for the repair. I informed Triage Restoration of this decision and found a new contractor. However, a month later Triage Restoration sent me a bill in the amount of $250 for the estimates they had performed. I reached out to Triage Restoration and spoke with an individual who yet again told me that estimates are free, so I should ignore the bill. Now, in June 2023, I have received a notice that Triage Restoration will be sending the $250 to debt collections if I do not remit payment by July 1st for the estimates, which again I was informed numerous times were free. I have reached out to the business to speak about this, but historically this matter has not been resolved appropriately.
