The ************************************ has contracted with All Ways Safe to control traffic on my street **********, ** during a project. All Ways Safe has repeatedly blocked my driveway, despite me calling several times to report the issue. There have been four total incidents. Each time, *** from All Ways Safe swears he tells his staff that their vans cannot obstruct a resident's driveway. Clearly, he does not explain this to his staff, who are always hostile when I confront them, and claim "nobody told them they can't do that." I have needed to get the City of Pittsburgh police involved as of the third incident, who affirmed to All Ways Safe that they are not permitted to block driveways with their vehicles. The most recent incident took place today (3/4/25), which was consistent with all previous incidents. All Ways Safe believes that they can block a driveway if there's no car in it--which is completely false. My car is parked in my garage, and even if I'm not home, I need access to pull back into my driveway and garage upon arrival. Despite repeated phone calls and police intervention, All Ways Safe will not cooperate in resolving their issue with obstructing my driveway. I would like to submit this formal complaint with the hopes action is taken to hold All Ways Safe accountable on this matter.

    Business Response

    Date: 03/04/2025

As a rule, ALL Ways Safe employees are instructed and trained that no company vehicle is to block a pathway from roads or driveways when avoidable.  We have spoken to our employees about this situation and have stressed the importance of maintaining a professional demeanor while working on sites.  Out of necessity, at times, it may be the safest option to park in an area that is less than ideal.  In instances where this occurs, we do require our employees to politely apologize for the inconvenience and move our company vehicles out of the way of, in this case, the residents driveway and avoid future issues.  When questioned, our employees said they did move out of the residents way any time there was a request to do so and moving forward they will find an alternative parking space.
Again, we apologize for the inconvenience and agitation that this situation has caused.

    Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

I need written confirmation that this will not occur again. As a homeowner, I am entitled to access my property at all times. I would like to remind AWS that blocking a driveway is illegal and a homeowner should never have to be in a position where they need to ask a vehicle to move. In my role as an essential worker for the Commonwealth, I require unobstructed access to and from my driveway at all hours of the day to leave and return from last-minute assignments. Regardless, I should not have to justify why I need unobstructed access to my driveway. I am tired of the false platitudes from *** saying that they have spoken to their workers when they clearly have not. I require a written statement indicating that this will not occur again.

    Regards,
