Im extremely disappointed with the way my mother was treated by the management at Metropolitan apartments in **********. She lived there for *************************************************** the many elderly residents who call this place home. Despite her long tenancy, they rarely updated her apartment, leaving her with cracked walls, ceiling damage, and even open holes in an interior HVAC closet that exposed her unit to the outside. I have photos to document these issues. The carpeting in her unit was wrinkled and uneven for years, creating a serious tripping hazard - especially for someone using a ******. When they replaced her microwave, they pulled down the cabinet above it, leaving a visible gap between the upper cabinet and the ceiling, which they never repaired. Throughout her 21 years there, my mother never once missed a rent payment. Yet when I informed management that we were moving out at the end of March due to medical reasons, they chose to charge us for an additional month instead of showing even a small amount of understanding. We also know that new tenants will not be moving in immediately, as they are systematically renovating all their units with new kitchens, bathrooms, flooring, and in-unit washer and dryers. Their decision to charge my mother for an extra month had nothing to do with lost rental income - it was simply an unnecessary and unfair choice. My mother, who will be 98 in May, deserved better than the dismissive and often rude attitude she encountered from them. Unfortunately, this seems to be a pattern - many elderly residents here who I have personally spoken with tell me they are not treated with the care and respect they deserve. If you're considering this complex for yourself or a loved one, I strongly urge you to look elsewhere.
