On July 26, 2024, The floor coverings contractor and I signed a contract for removing carpet and installing hardwood floor in my property. I then gave him a deposit of $7,800 as requested. The work was scheduled for completion by August 2, 2024.When the deadline passed, The contractor assured me the work would be finished by August 5, 2024. I had to reschedule our move-in date. Despite this flexibility, the work remained incomplete. The contractor then promised to complete the job by the weekend of August 9-11, 2024, but no one showed up.He requested another payment and an extension until August 14, 2024. On August 13, he arrived around noon, did minimal work, and left by 3 p.m. No work was done on August 14, and he only returned to collect his tools without speaking to me.Although the contract specified a deposit with the final payment due upon completion, he requested and received two additional payments, citing a need for cash. He has collected 90% ($ ******) of the total contract amount ($12,000), yet only 60-70% of the work is complete. From the beginning, I noticed the hardwood materials delivered were insufficient. When I raised this concern, the contractor reassured me that additional materials had been ordered, but they have not been delivered. We have expressed our disappointment with the progress and work quality, pointing out specific concerns. He claimed the work was unfinished and would be improved. He left the removed carpet in our garage, despite stating he would dispose of it.We are now left with uncovered floor areas and detached doors. This is a situation that needs to be urgently addressed. However, the contractor has stopped responding to my calls and messages since August 14, 2024. My calls now go straight to his voicemail after one ring. I sent him an SMS and an email expressing my dissatisfaction and asking for a plan to resolve the issue amicably, but I have yet to receive a response.
