My mechanic advised to have a flex pipe repaired at Marty's Muffler & weld Shop. I had this done on 8/30/21. The Flex Pipe is now falling apart. I took it back to my mechanic and he advised me to check with Marty's Muffler. When I did, they told me it was because of the motor mounts causing my engine to shift which cause the flex pipe to come apart. I took my car, 2012 Kia Soul to *** *******, to find out that Marty's Muffler did not even fix the flex pipe correctly the first time. And it did not cause the motor mounts to fail nor did the engine move at all. I paid Marty's Muffler $256.80 to do that job in 2021. Now I have to have what he did repaired and new flex pipe installed which is costing me $700. DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR TO MARTY'S MUFFLER UNLESS YOU WANT RIPPED OFF. If you get work done by him, I advise having a mechanic check the work asap. BTW I can't even give them one star.

Hi ***, I'm the one who you talked to on the phone and im also the technician that looked at your car when you brought it in with the bad Flexpipe. I'm going to try to respond to your review in order. Your mechanic refered you to us on August 30th *********************************************************************************************************************************** a new 1 instead of changing an entire assembly like the dealer is making you do for $700. Next the replacement flex pipe we installed is not falling apart. When I inspected your car the other day the stainless steel wire mesh on the exterior of the flex pipe was still completely intact yet the inside flexible pipe was ripped clean in half. The only thing that could cause this is a bad motor mount or you getting the exhaust hung up on something while driving causing the flexpipe to rip open. Assuming you would tell us if you hit something we inspected the motor mounts and noticed when shifting from Park to drive and when brake torquing the vehicle in Drive there was excessive movement in the motor. If you pop the hood and have someone break torque it or run it through the gears you will see exactly what we saw the engine shifting excessively. This is why we recommended that you have the motor mounts checked. I also find it odd that the dealer told you that we did not fix the flex pipe properly when *******************************************, ********************* ******************* *********** ******* ********** and a few other new car dealers and most used car dealers in the area use us for exhaust repairs to try and save themselves money because they know their own service department is a rip off. You have a 2012 **** when you came to see us in August of 2021 we removed your factory flex pipe because it was ripped and replaced it with an aftermarket flex pipe almost identical to the factory one. That aftermarket Flexpipe lasted you almost ********************************************************************************************************************* Aug of 2021. That's why we recommended you get the motor mounts checked because the only thing that could make a flex pipe fail prematurely like that would be bad motor mounts or you getting the exhaust caught on something. Because your car ripped your original and an aftermarket Flexpipe in less than a year and a half we wanted to make sure you weren't going to have the same issue again in 17 months. If the part was defective then it wouldn't have lasted nearly 17 months. Usually, if it's within 6 months we will replace the flex pipe for you at no cost as long as you provide a receipt and we don't see any evidence of you getting the exhaust hung up on something while driving or bad motor mounts. If you would have had the motor mounts checked by a Mechanic you trust (like the one who referred you to us) and they determined there was nothing wrong with the mounts then we were willing to install another aftermarket Flexpipe for half the cost (120+tax). Even though it was 500 or so days between when we changed the first one and it failed. Just so you are aware of how bad you are getting ripped off at the dealer, the dealer sells the Flexpipe outright for $262.09 and the other $430+ they are charging you is Labor!!! All that $ to take 4 bolts out and put 4 bolts back in. That's what I would consider getting ripped off... You could have contacted us after speaking with the dealer so we could explain all this to you but you let a flat rate technician that is only paid when he SELLS a job take advantage of you. Just because a job is not done the exact same way a dealer would do it does not mean it's done incorrectly. We've been doing it this way for almost 45 years. Good luck ***, I'm sorry you had a bad experience but we were just trying to make sure your car wasn't going to keep eating Flexpipes and costing you more $.
