Date Problem Occurred: No exact date available for original service, but they came to my home either
end of 2020 or beginning of 2021 for a leaky pipe; I paid them $217 at the time to fix the problem.

Date of Current Problem Brought To Their Attention: 10/19/22
Description of Problem: My husband and I noticed a leak coming from a pipe in our basement
10/10/22. This is the same pipe that had been 'replaced' by Meyer's ******** in '21. Because Meyer's
takes a while to come out and the basement was starting to smell of sewage,
I contacted a different plumber (***** ********) to address the problem. They came to my home on
10/17/22, examined the leaky pipe, and told me that it would have to be replaced. ***** came back to my
home on 10/19/22 and replaced the other pipe. The plumber showed me the defective pipe after it was
replaced; it was cracked from the top to the bottom, but looked like glue had been applied previously to
seal the crack. ******* told me that one of two things happened previously: 1) The new (if it really HAD
been replaced) pipe had the crack in it when it was installed by the other (Meyer's) plumber and they
applied glue to it (which could be easily seen running up and down the pipe), OR 2) the other leaky pipe
had NEVER been replaced in the first place, but the crack had been glued to seal it up (a quick fix). He
said that this is not standard care for a broken pipe and that it should have been replaced with a nondefective new pipe to begin with. He also told me that the reason I only paid $217 to fix it the first time was because they did NOT fix it properly to begin with, but did a band-aid job on it. I paid $685 to fix it
(permanently, this time, I hope!) -- the pipe had to be cut because of the way it had been fitted into the
adjoining floor receiving pipe which meant that the cost was higher. Additionally, the first pipe was not
made of as hardy material as the second one.

I contacted Meyer's after ******* left, and I was told by the receptionist, along with the owner, that I should
have gone to them first, that they had no responsibility for the original pipe, and that it was my fault that I
had to pay so much money to fix it. We started out civilly, but it ended up being a shouting match and
nothing was accomplished. Meyer's did call me on 10/20 but I have not returned their call because I do
not want them anywhere near my home again.

    BBB COMPLAINT #********

    TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:

    ADDRESS: *** ** ********** ****

THIS IS A REBUTTAL FOR THE COMPLAINT FILED BY ********* ******-***** ON A LEAKING PIPE IN
BASEMENT. JIM MEYERS PLUMBING HAS WORKED AT THIS HOME FIVE DIFFERENT TIMES ON FIVE
    DIFFERENT PLUMBING ISSUES.

JULY 5, 2019 LEAK UNDER KITCHEN SINK - TOTAL BILL 211.07

NOVEMBER 29,2019 INSTALL SHUT OFF VLAVES AND CAP OFF 11/2 DRAIN - TOTAL BILL 283.08

JANUARY 20, 2020 INSTALL GAS LINE AND ICE MAKER-TOTAL BILL 688.26

MARCH 30,2020 INSTALL KITCHEN FAUCET ON GANITE TOP AND SUPPLIES AND TRAP. TOTAL BILL
    722.40

    MAY 31.2022 INSTALL A NEW 1222B TUB/SHOWER ANTI SCOLD CARTRIDGE - TOTAL BILL 267.36

OUR PHONE RECORDS SHOW A PHONE CALL FROM MS ******-***** ON SEPT. 7,2022. OUR

COMPANY IS A VERY BUSY COMPANY WITH A TWO WEEK WAIT TIME FOR SERVICE WORK. IT IS HARD
TO CANCEL ANYBODY THAT'S BEEN SCHUDLED AND WAITING. THERE WASN'T A REQUEST TO BE PUT
ON OUR SCHUDLE AT THIS TIME - THERE WHERE NO OTHER PHONE CALLS FROM THIS NUMBER.

THE PIPE THAT'S IN QUESTION LEAKING WAS FOUND BY MY PLUMBER THE DAY WE WHERE INSTALLING
THE KITCHEN SINK PLUMBING. THAT DATE WAS MARCH 30,2020

WHEN THE OWNER AND MY PLUMBER LOOKED AT THE LEAKING ABS TYPE PIPE, MY PLUMBER ASKED -
DO YOU WANT THIS REPLACED. THE OWNER SAID THAT THE KITCHEN COST WAS ENOUGH FOR NOW
COULD YOU MAYBE STOP LEAK FOR AWHILE. MY PLUMBER SAID HE COULD PUT GLUE ON THE PIPE BUT IT WOULD NEED REPLACED. THE OWNER SAID TO WAIT, BECAUSE SHE MAY WANT A NEW LAUNDRY TRAY IN THE FUTURE. WE DID NOT CHARGE FOR ANY REPAIR ON PIPE - WE WHERE THERE INSTALLING KITCHEN PLUMBING AND DID NOT CHARGE FOR GLUEING. THIS WAS AGREED BY OWNER NOT TO CHANGE THE PIPE AS TO ADD TO THE REPAIR TO THE BILL. THE INVOICE FOR 211.07 SHOWS WE REPAIRED LEAK UNDER KITCHEN SINK, NOT BASEMENT. ALSO, THE TIME FROM THIS CALL OF SERVICE WAS MONTHS EARLIER. WHEN YOU WORK ON A TIME AND MATERIALS JOB WE LIST THE TIME AND MATERIALS USED. I THINK THE OWNER HAS REPAIR CONFUSED WITH KITCHEN INSTALLATION.

THERE WHERE REMARKS MADE ON THIS COMPLAINT THAT ARE VERY UNFAIR AND I FEEL NO APOLOGY IS NEEDED.

     SINCERELY

    Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

They were the ones who 'fixed' the pipe in my basement with glue.  Their report to you is false.  Not only will I never use this company again, but I will be SURE to share my negative experience with others.

    Regards,

    ********* ******-*****
