    I signed up with Anytime Fitness (Oakmont, PA site) on July 26, 2021. I made an appt with a staff member a few days later. He gave me very hard sell of additional services that would cost me hundreds of dollars a month on top of my $52 membership fee. When I declined repeatedly, the staff member’s attention stopped. I received no other fitness advice that I thought were included in my membership. My observation over the year is that staff only serve high paying customers, and are completely absent on some days. I decided to not renew when the contract was up.
    In July 2022, I called to cancel my membership. I told the staff member I had joined a different gym that week. She told me that I was now on a month to month membership until I cancelled. I told her I didn’t want to use the gym. She said I should have thought about that before I joined another gym. The staff member sent me a form. I don’t have a printer anymore because I only use one a couple times a year. I filled it out and returned it through email. The email didn’t send. (Complained about a wrong format. It’s pdf) I didn’t find out until my bank acct was charged. Tried again with different program. Same result. I went to the gym in person. No staff member. I came back last night. The staff member had 30 min to get the document ready while I used the treadmill. When I was finished, he hadn’t printed it and he was with “a paying customer” and told me to make an appt. I called the customer service number and asked them to have him print the doc, put it in envelope, so I could pick it up. The staff member called the next day and told me to make an appt because he might be with a “paying customer”. Then he hung up.
    The passive aggressive behavior makes me not trust that they will fill out the form in a timely manner and my bank acct will be charged until I jump through a lot of hoops or get a lawyer. This appears to be the business model. Caveat emptor.
