Do to a suspension from this YMCA Facility, that I am innocent Why protecting the welfare of my stepson in a gymnasium that was unsupervised as he was receiving abusive treatment by other youth. Thisled to a suspension towards me, moreover, my daughter who is in the gymnastics program at the Oil City YMCA, wants her mother and father to watch her compete in events, in which she paid very good money is not given that privilege even though she has done nothing to deserve this punishment.  I desire the better business bureau to forward this complaint in normal procedure. Business Response

    Date: 03/22/2023

The individual making the complaint was in fact released of membership and it was communicated that the person could not return to the YMCA. All family members are permitted to attend any and all programs or use membership.

The reason for terminating the membership was repeated Incidents with other members (aggressive conversations resulting in members not feeling safe) repeated Run ins or arguments with staff in the building and staff not feeling safe while at the YMCA. The person was met with and had numerous phone calls to explain and discuss the situations. It was determined that having the individual on the premise was not safe for staff or other participants. This matter was giver very careful consideration.

    Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

The incident that led to the dismissal was done after the said incident, I do not recall anytime that my behavior was deemed as threatening and in addition there was no police action that was done towards me as is a common procedure. Up to that point, the YMCA had an incident where I felt threatened by another member and I called the police for safety. To my knowledge that member was suspended, I do not agree that this is true. The dismissal resulted the night of protection towards my step son and can be verified that he was indeed receiving abusive treatment with no staff in sight. I am a member at and have been at other YMCA facilities and never experienced an issue regarding my conduct as being anything but polite and respectful towards staff and policy .  policy.

    Regards,

I want to further add to the complaint is as follows.

My daughter ****** is a Straight A Student that has never had a negative demerit against her as a student, citizen, or on her person in general. ****** demonstrates a gregarious nature with an altruism that few know in this World.  She loves her Mom and Dad very much as we love ******. ****** wants her parents involved in her cherished activities; gymnastics is one of those activities. This incredible Suspension by the YMCA, and I do mean incredible, does not represent me as a person. I want to expound on the conversation. And as follows, I do take offense to the comments made because I demonstrate myself as a citizen by factually helping the poor via donations to organizations such as Rural Catholic Charities and others known throughout the area. Parenting is a top priority and I have factually done a very good job of raising children as evidenced by PSU Graduate, Teaching basketball Skills to my sons, that have seen them excel to another level, building an unshakable confidence that will lead them in life.  All 3 have been raised n reared to be excellent citizens that are self-sufficient in all phases of life.  I have been to many YMCA facilities and never once had a negative experience that would lead to a suspension of this sort. Moreover, relationships with staff have evolved to lifelong friendships. The response does not reflect my character. The response does not reflect my intentions. Defaming my character is very poor at this point, when the fact of the matter is my stepson was being abused in a monsterous manner that left no other reaction other than to help him in his distress, and in the end a very nice girl is without her father at the YMCA.
