Good Ol' Boys Construction LLC (GOB) was hired as a co-contractor for basement work. Terms were met on 7/15/22, a $1,000 "pre-deposit" paid, and 10/1/22 set as a start date. The contract was signed on 8/12/22 with 1/3 paid as deposit. Work started early on 9/26/22, another 1/3 paid. Several needs arose, including: floor leveling, carbon fiber straps, and replacing/repairing plubming. Client agreed to necessary changes, and promptly paid in full . Around 10/28/22 client asked about completion, GOB's goal was 11/18/22. On 10/28/22 a draw payment (~1/2 the balance) was required by GOB. The completion date got pushed back several times. The co-contractor stated delays were due to staffing, and not the client's fault. In meetings between 11/25-28/22, GOB blamed the delays on changes. He also said more should have been charged, in some cases double, but he was doing the client a favor. The new goal was completion by 12/2/22. Flooring (the material was not agreed upon) was laid without a moisture barrier which GOB claimed was not required. The client confirmed with the manufacturer it was required. On 12/12/22 GOB hired a sub-contractor to complete work in 2 days. On 12/13/22 GOB and the co-contractor were released from the contract, and the sub-contractor took over. Several issues with GOB's work were found, including: unsecured plumbing, open-ground outlets, loose or crooked framing, material left behind drywall, significantly uneven flooring despite leveling, toilet not vented properly, poor craftsmanship, and more. On GOB, unannounced, parked across the street from the house and asked the sub-contractor to find something he claimed he left on site; the client was not contacted regarding this. GOB stated scanned copies of receipts are sent once ways have been parted. Client requested receipts; GOB refused.
